I would have to go with Soresu the most defensive of them all. I like to idea of waiting until your opponents makes a mistake and then attacking. Also they say a true Masters defence is unbreakable.

I really like Soresu both in style and philosophy (I even have a shirt that says I practice Soresu. :p ) but when I do sparring sessions with my brother to practice for our lightsabre video, I end up using a form very much like Djem So. So, if I were being honest, I'd probably be a Djem So practitioner.

Big time, Djem So would be my number 2 choice. It looks really cool when used correctly like the Anakin vs Dooku rematch.

My natural style would be Djem So, but I would likely get carried away with it.

I like the idea of Soresu, and because I would be a newbie I would probably use it at first. I love using the style in video games when I am up against somebody who plays all day every day (little brother), where as I have only picked up a controller for the first time. In UK football games I am ultra defensive, kick the ball out of play at every opportunity, and am passive to the point of time wasting. Usually people lose their cool and when they do I almost always capitalise. At worst I come out with a draw.

Ataru would not suit me because although I have good explosive strength I am a big guy and am not the most mobile ? I am more suited to powerlifting (though the use of plyometrics helps jumping without doubt).

I would probably end up going with Makashi since, having natural strength, I could work on precision and prowess and take other saber fighters to school.

    So, Form 2 it is.

I would Master every form so that I could create my own hybrid-combat-style. My foundation would be Soresu's defense-based footwork, that form has the least amount of wasted movement. My Offensive style would be derived from the power of Djem So, the unconventionality of Jar Kai and the unpredictability of Juyo's attack angles.

I think that I will stick to my force powers if I ever come up against you.

You know that I am the GM of Lightsaber-combat and Force powers in an RPG, right?
I've had to settle many a dispute on this very subject.

Nice. I will no doubt check out advice in that section since I am playing through the KOTOR games again. [face_coffee]

I just dusted-off KOTOR last week.
I have yet to play it through on my 360, and was thinking about playing it this weekend.

I'd go for Yoda's - its the closest to my own "run away" unless cornered and then "flail wildly" if that doesn't work..

I'd like to think that I would use Soresu but, I'd definitely end up using Djem So or on the off chance that I lived long enough to become powerful, Vapaad.

Should probably go in the Literature forums, as there are no lightsaber forms in the films, only the universal "Gillard Form".

In JA multiplayer I find myself using what can only be described as Makashi.

Going by JA I was probably a Soresu as I tended to try to dodge until my opponent made a mistake and then land a solid hit with the heavy stance.

I would have to pick Soresu. The reason I pick Soresu is because I think it's best to wait until the enemy makes a mistake.

I think the form you should use really should depend on your size, weight, power and agility.

Yoda is small and light( And well a bit old ), so his style is fast and furious. This is ideal for a small Light weight warrior. Its sheer velocity neutralizes the stronger opponents power, as the opponent needs to defend each strike. The opponent can't exert too much power in his strikes, as he wouldnt be able to then reach a defensive stance. This style is brilliant and a larger opponent would find it very difficult to overcome.

Anakin is fast and very powerful, so his style is a balance of power strikes and some speed. requires a very gifted person to make this effective. To strike with such power requires a lot of strength, and to defend your opponents counter strike requires the user to reach a defensive posture with speed. A fast experienced opponent would easily dodge the power strike i had hit him with and proceed to slice me up with his counter. Not for me, is this style.

Obi-wan is a more open style. It can appear fast and agressive against a weaker opponent, yet it becomes more defensive against more powerful foes. I'd say this style would be the more effective in this world. This style would be my choice if i were a Jedi here on Earth.

Vaapaad - used by Mace Windu is not very distinct. I havent been able to seperate it as a seperate form. It appears to be a mixture between Anakins Style and Obi Wans. I read the ROTS novel, but its not like that in the movies. He fights at normal speed in the movies.

Nick Gillard did a great job with the different styles. Count Dooku for example always looks calm and collected, unlike Darth Sidious and Darth Maul.

A true Master of the saber would take the finer elements of each Form and use them to augment his or her chosen/preferred Form. Also, saber attacks were executed as "sequences" according to certain Eu authors... so careful consideration should be made when facing an opponent that is familiar with your chosen Form. Hence my mention of using specific flourishes/movements from each Form.

The three Forms that would be best to learn offensively (and in my chosen order) would be Makashi (simply because it was the least Mastered Form), Juyo (because those who like to saber fight should never be stupid and use anything else) and Ataru (because the Force can flow through less aggressive Jedi and still be bombad).

I would use Form II because it is the best form for lightsaber dueling and fencing moves, Form V because it is an upgraded and offensive version of Form III which turns the defensive form into a dangerous weapon to be used against the enemy as opposed to Form III's pathetic self defense and non aggressive moves that are only meant to block/deflect attacks and protect oneself from attacks but not to defeat or disable them, Form III is only good as a defensive form because a true master is unbeatable but also is not capable of defeating anyone because of their limited combat and defense moves, it sucks.

Form VII or Juyo/Vaapad is the best because it is highly dangerous and can defeat any opponents, it also turns the dark side of the force against the Sith Lords and dark side warriors and makes them easy to defeat by channeling their powers against them as a weapon, it turns their aggression into a weapon that can used to stop and defeat them, and to use Form VII you have to master many other high level forms before you can control it, meaning that you already have mastered many different combat forms that focus on many different types of fighting, the result is a very well rounded fighter and warrior that is prepared for anything and anyone in battle, someone who can go defensive and offensive at will and do both equally well.

I would use Form III Soresu, as it fits me; I'm a naturally defensive person and I hardly ever strike out aggressively. It would also present a challenge to master, and could help me "find myself"; to see if I really am as defensive as I believe.
