Which of the Star Wars Saga scores are your favorites?

Revenge of the Sith is the best overall, with Empire in second.

However, I think my single favorite track overall has to be Jedi's Fury from ROTJ.

 

I voted ROTS. I agree, ESB would be my second.

Ultimately I feel there are gems to be had in each and every film, but I guess those two are the ones that are just a delight from beginning to end.

I am actually kinda surprised how many votes TPM got. Other than Duel of the fates (and I guess the Trade Federation theme) I don't see what others are all that memorable-at least not compared to many others.

 

Return of the Jedi because it features the ‘greatest hits’ from the entire trilogy.


Where is Shadow of the Empire (N64 game) on this list?

Out of all the recent scores. It seems William's had the most fun with Episode I.

 

Honestly, the only ones of those I consider "memorable" (which is what I judge my opinions on scores by) are Flag Parade and Augie's Municipal Band-other than the obvious ones I listed. I won't deny that TPM has some great work by JW, but in terms of favorites in the SW films, it's my 2nd least (TLJ is my least).

 

I was really surprised with how much I liked TROS’ when I listened to it a week or two ago, it felt like 90% Imperial March in the theatre. Anthem of Evil is a standout.

 

Or Dark Forces, which features SW music in 32 bit digital form.

Now that I think about it, there could be a video games poll like this. Someone would have to help assemble the list of ten choices, as I know nothing about the Star Wars video game music.

Empire is my favorite soundtrack ever, along with Superman the Movie.

 

John Williams is just absolutely amazing. There's probably a real argument to be made that he's not only by far the most talented person to work on Star Wars - he might be the most talented person to work in the film industry in the last 50 years.

I don't mean this as an insult to George Lucas or any of the other incredibly talented people who worked on Star Wars - I just think Williams is THAT good.

He's behind so many pieces of iconic movie music that I can't come close to remembering them all.

 

John Williams is composer of calibre that we may not see again for a long time. His genius I believe is to be able to understand and fit a tune or melody to a film or character that feels so right, that it hard to imagine any other piece of music going with it. He manages to put the right space opera theme to Star Wars, adventure theme to Indiana Jones, magic theme to Harry Potter, so that you think of those things, space, adventure and magic.

 

I voted for AOTC, but for me it's tied with ROTS. Across the Stars is just one of my favorite pieces of music ever, let alone in Star Wars. ROTS brings together all my favorite themes from the movies, both old and new, and its score is incredible.

 

Let me begin by saying that I had an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see John Williams and the Los Angeles Film Harmonic perform live at the Hollywood Bowl last night. It was amazing. I shared the experience with my son, which made it even more memorable. We were just discussing our favorite John Williams Star Wars soundtrack albums, and we both agreed that it is very difficult to choose only one. We decided to choose our top three, and rank them accordingly. Mine are TPM, ANH and ROTJ. His are ROTS, TLJ and ANH. Please join us in this fun exercise. May the Force be with you!

I find it to be so interesting that ESB is my favorite Star Wars film, but for some reason the music is not even among my top three favorite choices. Thanks for the reply, Christopher. Great choices.
