I know this can be considered an "heretic" question, but I also know that, as it is my opinion, many SW fans consider ESB the best SW film so far, and it was NOT directed by GL, but by Irwin Kershner, so...

Spielberg cos he is more of a character director as well as being good with the technical aspects.

    :( :(

I never thought this question would be so HERETIC...nobody cares...

Or else everybody loved the way GL directed EP I and II...

ILM rules, it seems...special efects, blue screens...that is what matters now...no good direction or acting...

*Sad Am I, to my slimy mudhole I will retreat...*

Sorry I didn't see this thread.

I picked Speilburg, my reason's in it are because though Lucas is a good technical director for special effects and so on I don't feel that he can direct some of the actors in the way they are suppose to act emotionally.

Jackson although he did a good enough job on LOTR even with some of the faults I find with it ;)
I have looked at his work as a whole and well that is the only film I think he has directed really well.

But Speilburg I feel is a good story teller so would be able to direct SW and give it the justice that it deserves.

ok thats my 2 cents worth :p

Lucas directed the Throne Room scenes in RotJ, so he above everybody else should direct Episode III

and besides.... he really has/ had his moments in AotC. ;)

I'm not contradicting you...I just wished that for ep 3 he gives more inportance to the story and to the acting than on the previous movies...Ok, we know that special effects are essential in a SW movie, but they should not become THE issue, by themselves...I don't know if you saw the DVD documentaries, but if you have, don't you agree that there is loads and loads of stuff that needed not to be there?
Let's face it, the OT had much less sophisticated special effects and it is not bc of that that the fans don't love it.

    In my opinion, there's something...missing in the new movies...maybe it's actor's charisma, I don't really know...

Apparently you are forgetting that ESB was directed by Irwin Kershner and ROTJ was directed by Richard Marquand...
