Who is the best Star Wars actor so far?

Well, this poll was created before AOTC, so no Christopher Lee...

I won't vote on this, but I'll comment:

Mark Hammil gave his signature best performance in Star Wars. He was Luke, the hero. He made the movies, even if he's not the greatest actor ever.

Alec Guiness is probably the best by reputation. But his performance? Good, of course, but his heart wasn't really in it.

Ewan McGregor--those are big shoes to fill! I can perfectly see him turning into Guiness. I really have to respect his talent and dedication to getting the part. Still, I'm biased.

Liam Neeson is a fine actor. He was very compelling and convincing in his role.

Harrison Ford isn't extremely versatile, but he is in fact the perfect Han Solo. I can't think of anyone that could be better.

Everyone else doesn't come to mind as much.

 

I have to say I voted for alec guinness but not for his work in star wars. but he is the greatest actor on the list.

but of the new films I would say ewan mcgreggor. I have alwyas liked haerrison ford but not a lot of his recent work. mcgreggor is consitintly an actor who gives a great preformance no matter the role. from trainspotting to moulin rouge he does not repeathimself always trying something differentr with a new approach.

 

I voted for Mark.

 

Ian McDiarmid. He acts rings around everyone else, but doesn't get nearly the credit that he deserves.

I also think that Guinness's performance in SW is overrated. It didn't really challenge him, and his lack of conviction (or interest) sometimes shows.

i put ewan 'cause he's the only good one in the PT, but i really wanted james earl jones, but he wasnt there and there was no "other"...

 

I voted for Ewan McGreggor because he's the one that I like the most. Harrison Ford was my second choice.

Out of the list? Well each actor have likeable stuff. So I guess my votes are for:
Frank Oz (best puppeter ever after Jim Henson )

Liam Neeson- Great actor brings presence to the screen. Only fault about him is with his US accent in films the irish accent comes through a lot. But yea he's cool

Ewan Mc Gregor- Hmm Ewan but yea he's great as well was good in Moulin Rouge.

And for looks I have to say Hayden Christen (sp) Hmmm hot!

I voted Ian McDiarmod, so deliciously theatrical and sinister as his Emperor/Darth Sidious alter egos. He really seems to be enjoying himself. However his performance as Palpatine is rather mediocre, nothing significant.

3. Billy Dee Williams (surpassed the others in many scenes, very very convincing performance)
4. Sir Alec Guiness (would have ranked him higher for sheer raw talent alone -- but his role is too small considering he is a mere apparition in the two sequels after his first SW film.)
5. Harrison Ford (uneven, had some of the greatest and worst lines in the whole saga.)

My true vote goes to one not on the list: Anthony Daniels. Oh, the melodrama he conveys with only his voice...

 

I assume we're talking about acting talent and not popularity.
Mark Hamill's acting is far superior to Ford's.
Peter Cushing and Alec Guiness were up there, too.

 

The fact that more people voted for Portman than Fisher is truly staggering (I mean no offense to Portman, but still).

 

Grrr I can't vote in this one- it's old and Hayden isn't on the list.
