    I'm surprised that I'm the only one whose voted for Neil Gaiman so far. He has a great imagination and his writing style is amazing. I love Terry Pratchet and JKR, too.

    I picked Tolkien but I am surprised you left Phillip Pullman, Rowling and C.S. Lewis off the list.

    "RA Salvatore is modern too. where is he?"

    Judging by the AotC novelization, he's a more likely candidate for worst modern fantasy author. It appalls me that that guy gets paid to write books.


    I didn't read the AotC novelization, but his Forgotten Realms books are pretty good. (And this is coming from someone who hated RAS after Vector Prime. My opinion was changed.)
