    I don't really have a favorite author...I read so many different authors and genres that it's really impossible for me to pin one down. I can name authors I love, but not my favorite out of them all.

    i like Robert A. Heinlein (starship troopers) and of course timothy zahn because he was the author of the first star wars book i
    read, it was heir to the empire and i was about six or seven

    Adams...

    Not Douglas, but Richard Adams -- he of Watership Down, Shardik and Girl in a Swing fame. Very engaging and popular style, while simultaneously literary and meticulously crafted. /uses Jedi mind-trick/ You will read all his books immediately!

    I voted for Mark Twain, author of the irresistable Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but I like many of the authors listed, and the great omission, J. R. R. Tolkien, would tie Twain at least.

    Wow, I don't even know how to pick. I like so many different authors depending on the series I'm going to have to go with other this time around.

    Wow this poll is almost 5 years old....times do change, since I am convinced that KR would have included Neal Stephenson in this poll.

    I voted other, while I enjoy some of the authors listed, I wouldn't say any of them are my favorite. Ummm, I'd have to go with one of these...

    The Riftwar Saga was my first fantasy novel purchase, and Faymond E. Feist is still my favorite author.
