Although Ewan gave E1 and 2 a dramatic, exciting, and comical edge, Alec played a great "Ben." I must say they played the part equally well in different ways.

Ewan. If he were to play Obi at his ANH age, I think he may do as good a job as Alec, plus he'd probably be more able to do fights.

Ewan had a tougher job to do because he had to act like Guiness. That has to be tough.

Plus Ewan doesn't want to Star Wars to rot in hell like Guiness did.

And he had to work on getting the British accent, being Scottish and all. Ewan's Obi seems as wise as Alec's, plus he has an equal, if not better, wit.

I really couldn't choose. I guess if I were able to vote again, I might say Ewan becuase of his expanded role in the movies.

After seeing AOTC I'd have to go with Ewan. He did a remarkable job and really impressed me.

Sir Alec Guinness built the character, all Ewan had to do was copy him :)

Ewan, to me, owns the role now. Sir Alec still gives an amazing performance, but when I think of Obi-Wan, I think of Ewan.

    "Dreams pass in time."

That, IMHO, is one of the best delivered lines in SW history.

I liked both. Obi is my fave character. I love each for what they give. Guiness is an old hermit guy he's kind of sad and doesn't have friends (until luke) Through McGregor you see how he kind of becomes like that. I think he is doing a wonderful job with the transition, you can see it, it is even in his speech.

Ps. whoever said he doesn't say wise things was wrong, you were probably just young for the OT and older now. I have the advantage of being 16 and only knowing the movies for like 3 years.

I voted McGregor because Guinness hated SW, he was just in it for the money. (which is why I wasn't sad when he died...)

I voted for both. Guinness defined the role and McGregor made the transition to a younger Obi Wan seamless. When I see McGregor on screen, I almost have to remind myself that it's a different actor as both Sir Alec and Ewan are both Obi Wan to me.

I picked both, since Ewan makes his younger version believable. It's not easy trying to play the younger version of another actor.

The original is the best! And he doesn't deliver his lines as woodenly as poor Ewan.

After seeing AOTC - I'm so glad I voted for Ewan. ;) I love Alec as Obi-Wan but Ewan owns the role as far as I'm concerned now. He's just pulled him off so well. :)

Sir Alec Guinness did a great job, but I like Ewan better. As many of you have said, when I think of Obi-Wan I think of Ewan (in AOTC). I really like how Ewan portrayed him in AOTC. Good job. ;)
