Who played the better Obi-Wan?

They were both good

 

I'd hate to say it, as I grew up with Sir Alec Guiness, but I cast my vote for Ewan McGregor... simply because he had more screen time to develop the character.

I'd have to say both - I liked the performances of both of them and have a feeling once ROTS is out Ewan will be much more likable as well.

 

Sir Alec but Ewan is very good, and
great in ROTS if you haven't already seen
it. He steals the show IMHO.

 

They both equally awesome. Sir Alec really kicked it off well, and Ewan did a fantastic job of carrying the legacy.

 

Ewan McGregor for sure. He had more parts in Star Wars than Alec Guiness and didn't have a migrating hairpiece.

 

Ewan did a fabulous job of making me believe that he WAS the younger Ben Kenobi. To me, they are the same character.

 

Alec Guiness even though Ewan was a great Obi-Wan he could never ever reach Alec

 

I think both were good, though I've always preferred Sir Alec Guinness.

I didn't think I'd say that, but after ROTS, I slightly prefer Ewan. People can say many bad things about PT, but McGregor's Kenobi is perfect and nobody will make me think other way.

 

We'll see in a few more months, but now, ROTS Ewan is Obi-Wan Kenobi.

 

I really liked them both. Obi-Wan is the best!

 

They were both magnificent! I can't imagine either role being played by anyone else!

 

I think this is a tough question to answer. I voted for both in the end, simply because I think that Ewan played him that well, I personally think he lived up to the understandably high expectations that fans of the OT like myself were going to compare him to. The only problem I had with any of his scenes was when Obi-Wan told Padme that Anakin had turned to the Dark Side, and he...here comes the stinker, "Killed Younglings."

OMG, was that a bad delivery, or what?!?

Other than that, I thought he was fine, and was perfect casting.

 

I thought that delivery was ok. I'd blame the script if you didn't like that bit.

 

Oh, don't get me wrong. That scene could have been written a lot better, but Ewan completely hams it up!

I think Ewan did a phenomenal job in ROTS, especially with what he was given, but he did kick up the melodrama to 11 with that line.
