It would never happen, but Robert Eggers would make a pretty intense and strange SW film.

I want this more than anything, and I know it'll never happen.

Agreed. The attention to detail in every single frame would be absolutely bonkers.

Can you imagine him doing the Old Republic in the same way he does Northman? Oh lordy.

A Robert Eggers or David Lowery Star Wars film would be a dream come true.

It'd also never happen, but if there was any big franchise thing I think he'd make an interesting movie within, for me it's Alien.

Really, though, I'm just happy to let him keep on making history-steeped mythological/folklore tales until the end of time. The man is three for three, The Lighthouse is one of the very best films of the 2010s, and he's probably the most interesting new director that's gotten his start in features in the last decade or so. Cannot wait to see his career continue to blossom from here, and I hope that he gets to really keep on making movies that are true to him and his sensibilities/interests (even though The Northman is, unfortunately, floundering at the box office).

It's obvious that I should be the director/writer/conspirator

I think we all know it’s only a matter of time until the Duffer Brothers get hired to write and direct a SW project.

I'm hoping Andrew Stanton's contribution with writing the last two parts of Kenobi bodes well for involvement on future projects.

I'd like to see a Cameron Crowe directed film based on the a musical journey of Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes. Or maybe a Sy Snoodles biopic by Scorsese. The relationship between Sy and Max Rebo is the stuff of legend.

From what I gather they all came from working class backgrounds and played the Outer Rim Circuit. Twelve hour sessions, six days a week. Mos Eisley was the crucible that honed their chops. They climbed the ladder, step by step, on the way to the Core. The Big Time!

Andrew Stanton is great. A shame his career was derailed by John Carter, which is actually a really good movie, imo.

I wouldn't go so far as 'really good' but it didn't deserve to bomb like it did. I would have happily watched a sequel.

Since there will probably never be another new SW movie, this thread should probably be retitled to “Who should LFL say is going to direct the next SW movie?”.
