PT Who was more powerful yoda or darth sidious????

No he isn't but he is more powerful than the Jedi masters he has attained a higher power level but he's not a god he smartly whittled them down so a more manageable situation. Hence he is a great tactician, how has this got from him being powerful to claims of him beating 1000s of jedi at once lol I never took it that far?

 

It was just a way to point out there are limitations even for him. I'm surprised you're missing the forest for the trees.

 

I never called him godlike though I just said he is more powerful than jedi masters because the dark side of the force which is the stronger side allows you such great powers beyond anything a jedi can reach. But the trade off is eventually it will destroy you eventually.
Sidious could destroy a room of jedi masters maybe 15 20 of them on a good day but the numbers would catch up if he was against 100s on his own. He was a smart tactician how he eradicated them all but as time went on as everything went his way the darkside finally got him with his complacency and got the shock of his life when Vader threw him down the pit.
Episode 9 has just opened up a whole new can of worms really so for arguments sake I'll leave that out of his overall arc from 1 to 6.

Why would he reveal to everyone that he's the BIG BAD to an Army of Jedi??? Yeah the senate would definitely follow an Evil Sith as an Emperor too. That was your question.

Palpatine is NOT all powerful BUT compared to any other Jedi except Yoda..then he is.

Surprise that they never seen him move that fast before is moot. They are Jedi Masters ready for battle with lightsabers drawn...wether Palpatine drew his lightsaber in a split second or 5 minutes later....they have the advantage.....And Palpatine eliminated that advantage in mere seconds.

 

I have read the novelization for each and every movie.

Except the last one, of course, because it comes out later this year.

I think a lot of that is in jest.

I don’t just mean winning duels. In AOTC, Anakin went all hot headed and disobeyed command. Part of winning is being tactical, not necessarily being the strongest... which we’ve seen time and time again. And even in losing, we’ve seen every person in the entire saga lose. And I think we’ve seen Obi-Wan fight more than anyone, just off the top of my head.

Everyone gives all this clout to Yoda for being so wise, but Obi-Wan even schools him on teaching Luke. He’s always composed, he’s always abiding by the highest moral code.

 

Duels don't come down to just power levels and skill(though those are important).

A lot of factors are involved.

Obi Wan would have been cut down if he had tried to fight Sidious.

Like in seconds. The movie itself makes this pretty clear. Obi Wan basically begs Yoda to send him and Yoda gently responds in his own way of speaking, “sorry Master Kenobi you’d die, you need to deal with Anakin being dead”.

At best Obi Wan may have last a minute...maybe. But he’d be dead.

I don’t think it’s absolute because he would die. I think Yoda was more hopeful that Obi-Wan had the strongest influence on Anakin and could possibly make him see reason. So at some point you have to weigh the odds of having the best outcome, and Obi-Wan had a much stronger and developed relationship with his padawan than Yoda.

 

And remember... only Sith lords deal in absolutes!

 

What I find confusing is that Yoda does say the dark side is quicker than the light side. But how can it be quicker without being stronger? It seems to me that Yoda is contradicting himself.

 

Yoda should have known better. The High Ground Side is the winner.

Yoda seemed to be trying to impress on Obi Wan that reasoning with Anakin was pointless.

“The boy you trained, gone he is consumed by Darth Vader”.

That’s basically insisting Obi Wan should kill him.
