Yoda has 800+ years of experience as well as the force. Gandalf is Wise but I think Yoda is wiser.

 

i give yoda props for the experience factor.

and the b.s. excuses can be explained by the fact that it's not always wise to tell someone thier future. they're not excuses, he's sheilding the truth for their own good

Yoda has 800+ years of experience as well as the force. Gandalf is Wise but I think Yoda is wiser.

Gandalf is a Maia, which means he's been alive since before the creation of Middle-earth, which at the time of the first book/movie is well over 10,000 years old

 

That is one of the mysteries of life.

Yoda is much wiser! I know almost nothing about Lord of the Rings but no one is as wise as Yoda!

 

Well then, Rogue-Leader, you should first read LOTR and then judge... And Jorus_Kando said it, Gandalf has a MUCH more experience than Yoda (yes, Yoda has the Force, but Gandalf is a wizard, which is almost the same, from a certain point of view)

I like Yoda very much, but I voted for Gandalf. He's very cool, and I think he is wiser than Yoda.

 

Yea Yoda is cool, but not as wise as Gandalf.

He becomes the most powerful being, besides Sauron, on Middle-Earth after he is resurrected as Gandalf the White, while Yoda doesn't really fight, he just, ummmmm, makes funny sentences. When Gandalf comes back as Gandalf the White, he even tells Gimli (who thought he was Saruman) that he could not be harmed by his weapon(axes, swords,.....lightsabers...) Now, Gandalf the GREY was not as wise as Yoda, but Gandalf the WHITE came back as being pretty much immortal and the all-powerful good guy.

Plus, Gandalf could at least cook good.

Actually,Jorus, Gandalf was an Istari, called by men Wizards (check near the end of The Silmarillion, in "Of and Rings of Power and the Third Age"). He was believed to have been sent by the Lords of the West to contest the power of Sauron if he ever got out of hand. There were only five Istari as far as I know: Gandalf the Grey (later the White), Saruman the White (later the Red), Radagast the Brown, and two others who are unnamed. Gandalf becomes the most powerful of them all, and so he is fully able to rival Sauron's powers.

Gandalf the Grey, however, was not as wise as he later was in his "White" form....this is why he fell into Saruman (the WHITE's) trap.

I don't think Yoda, even in his prime, was as powerful physically, or maybe even in the Force, as Emperor Palpatine in HIS prime. This is why I think Gandalf the White was stronger both physically and mentally than Yoda.

You're right, I should have noted I'm only speculating on that one (Gandalf did say he was called Olorin in his youth in the West, and Tolkien said the Istari are Valar "of a sort.")

 

Fat_Fett, I must disagree with you I think Yoda was much more powerful in the force than Palpy. Yoda mastered the force like no one else.

 

I choose neither because of one factor. They exist in two different realms. Yoda is very wise in the force, but Gandalf is very wise in his world. If you put both of them together in one room they could not discuss anything with each other, because they do not live in the same locations in space. There for they are both equals.

I'd say Yoda. I mean, Yoda's been alive for over 900 years, he's got know more than Gandalf I would think.
