Why do the Jedi Star fighters in ROTS sound and look like TIE fighters?

im confused..the question is burning me in my sleep...

because they are the precursors to the TIEs?

Yes wrong board indeed but still . . .

You have to remember the Republic becomes the Empire. It only makes sense that the evolution of equipment and vehicles will follow the same flow which is why the capital ships start to look so much like Star Destroyers as well and the clone armor slowly starts to transform into stormtrooper armor.

It's just too bad they have to give up so much mobility and the ability to see.

What I find interesting is that the republic is also using the precursor to the X-wing at the same time. I wonder how the choice of equipment split off like that and the rebellion ended up using the X-wing style when the Republic/Empire clearly sarted that whole thing.

I smell a fan film concept in the making.

Now I do recall the V-Wing Fighters sounding like TIE fighters...

 

The V-wing sounds like a TIE.. the Jedi Starfighters have their own sound. It makes sense they sound similar.. most Hondas sound similar.. why can't Star Wars ships makes the same noise? They may be produced by the same company!

 

Like most vehicle makes, any "special modifications" will alter the way they sound. It could also be that sometimes newer replacement parts might tighten up the sound a bit as well, or it could just be a screen trick designed to help you tell the difference between ships on screen and separate what they're doing.
