Covered in great transparisteel spires and duracrete skytowers, Coruscant is the most important planet in the galaxy.

Only one planet in the galaxy has a population of one billion sentients.
Only one planet has the coordinates 0.0.0.
Only one planet has been the seat of the galactic government for over twenty-five thousand years.

Coruscant is more than just a capital; it is the entire galaxy in microcosm. Many governments have come and gone, and Coruscant has been the capital of them all.

Today it is the capital of the New Republic, the regime created by the victorious Alliance to Restore the Republic. What started as an insignificant rebellion succeeded in overthrowing the greatest Sith Lord in a millennium and destroying the most tyrannical regime the galaxy had ever seen.

The Rebels destroyed the Emperor and swept away the remains of his Empire, leaving only a remnant, which called for peace. Following the final peace, the great leader of the Republic chose to resign, leaving a space for a new leader to take power.

Leia Organa Solo, Princess of Alderaan, daughter of Darth Vader, stepped down from office, her life?s work accomplished. The Republic had been restored, the Empire had been defeated and the Jedi Knights had risen again.

Now a new leader sits at the helm of the Republic, a man very different from Leia Organa. Borsk Fey?lya has been a supporter of the Rebellion for decades. It was his people who helped destroy the second Death Star and with it, the Emperor. He is now the Chief of State of the New Republic. Supported by many worlds that were oppressed under the Empire, these aliens see Fey?lya as their chance to remove human supremacy from the galaxy forever.

These beings mean well, but they do not realize that they are being exploited. For the Emperor and Vader are both gone, and Darth Bane?s Order with them. But another Order of Sith exists, one that has lain hidden for a millennium, content to watch the galaxy from afar, waiting for their opportunity to rule. That time has finally come. With the Dark side of the Force as their servant, these Dark Prophets will seize the Republic and bend it to their will.

Ask and you shall receive, though I'd forgotten all about this story.

The sun slowly rose in the distance; it’s brilliant light illuminating the great jungle that covered Bosthirda. This world was made up of rainforests, filled with carnivores that fought everyday for dominance, making the jungles of Bosthirda a place where only the strong survived. It was little wonder, thought Kadann; Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side, that Darth Millenial had chosen to start the Dark Force religion here.

For centuries, the Prophets of the Dark Side had gathered on Bosthirda, focusing their talents on divining the future and expanding their order. They had stagnated, since Darth Millenial’s passing they had had no leader, no visionary to guide them. Then, one day, an ex-Jedi Knight named Kadann had come to their hidden sanctuary, a world that no outsider had ever found. He had been guided there by a vision, and the Prophets knew then that he was the one destined to be their leader, to be the new Supreme Prophet of the Dark Side.

Kadann was a dwarf of a man, only 1.3 meters in height; the Supreme Prophet was a rather unimpressive figure for his title. The diminutive height was an illusion, seen through the eyes of the Force; Kadann was a being of great power. Over half a century of meditation and training had honed his skills with farsight to a level experienced only by Emperor Palpatine himself.

Darth Sidious had been the one to speak to Kadann through the Force, and invite the Prophets to serve him, helping him bring the Force into balance. Upon seeing that Sidious was the Sith Lord, the one born with the power to take the final step, Kadann had agreed. For decades they had served the Sith and the Empire, but when Kadann had seen the destruction of the Death Star and the end of the Empire, he had departed.

The Empire had crumbled, despite the attempts of many warlords to keep it together. These attempts had all been doomed to failure, as Kadann had clearly seen in his visions. Had one of the warlords actually had a chance of victory, the Supreme Prophet might have placed his support behind him. There was no such champion, and even the Emperor’s resurrected spirit had only been able to last for a year, before being defeated forever by the heirs of Vader.

All of the subsequent schemes by numerous Dark Jedi and warlords had failed, and Luke Skywalker had revived the Jedi Order single-handedly. Kadann had waited patiently, expanding his own Order with various ex-Inquisitors and other disciples of the late Emperor, all in preparation for the day that he had foreseen. That day was finally here.

The rise of Borsk Fey’lya was the end for both the Jedi and the Republic. It was greatly ironic that one of their own would seize control of the galaxy and finally bring about an everlasting peace.

Awe, thanks Nyota's Heart. [face_blush] I do love SiTares.

This is very good Vialco. Kadann, I think, will prove to be quite the foe and interesting character. I like the way you're using Borsk Fey'lya - quite the political powerhouse in his own right - to inadvertently help the Sith to accomplish their goals. That's great story telling.

When you update, shoot me a PM. I'll watch this with interest. :)

    Good job!

@Vialco -- since I'm enjoying your "Journey into Darkness", out of curiosity I peeked into your profile and found this. [face_dancing] If you feel inspired to continue this/start it up again, that'd be great. :)

Haha, I'd forgotten I'd even written this. Tell you what, I've got a few chapters I wrote on this before I gave up. If I can find them in the far recesses of my hard drive, I'll post them here. Thank you for your kind words, I used to write more but my free time was almost non-existent until recently. With loads more free time, I've started going back to my old hobbies. Glad you enjoyed this!

    Chapter One
The Galactic Senate was silent; the great chamber, which was normally alive with the voices of over a thousand delegates, was mute. From the hoverpod assigned to the world of New Alderaan, Leia Organa Solo watched the final votes being counted.

Even without her connection to the Force, Leia could have felt the anxiety and anticipation mounting in the vast domed hall. Senators waited in their hoverpods with baited breath, newscams zooming around the room.

All of the Senators were present; their pods docked on the ivory walls of the mushroom-like dome, all were waiting to see just who would win the post of Chief of State of the New Republic. Leia knew it was a foregone conclusion, but she hoped in her heart that another being would win the presidency, anyone other than her political rival for over a decade.

One of the Jenet clerks turned to the Calibop Vice Chancellor, Mif Kumas and chattered at him in Basic. Kumas snapped back at him in a sharp voice that could not be heard, even in the deafening silence. The Jenets clicked away at their consoles, jabbering to each other in their native tongue, glancing at displays frantically, going over numbers once again. After conferring with his fellows, the same Jenet turned back to Kumas and made an affirmative gesture, gesturing to the displays.

The Vice Chair glanced at the screens, and then rose to the great podium from which the Chief of State usually spoke. Kumas took a moment to shake his wings, the motion causing his shimmersilk robes to ripple, the golden fabric reflecting the soft light in the chamber. Spreading his wings in a gesture of greeting, Kumas began to speak in his strong, willowy voice.

“Fellow delegates, the counts have come in.” A series of loud whispers began to fill the chamber, and Kumas had to raise his hands and call for silence.

As soon as the whispers died down, he continued, “By an eighty-three percent majority, the new Chief of State of the New Republic is Senator Borsk Fey’lya of Bothawui.”

The Senate exploded into a cacophony of cheers, sobs and shouts of triumph.

Fey’lya’s supporters were roaring in victory, cheering the arrival of a non-Human president.

Many of Leia’s old supporters were going pale with shock, a few of them fainting dead away.

As the cheers rose and echoed throughout the chamber, Leia felt a sudden rush of faintness and a dark fog cut away at her vision. Grasping the pod railing for support, she managed to hold herself upright, waving away the concern of the Alderaanian Senator, Cal Omas.

Fey’lya’s pod glided to the centre of the chamber where he moved onto the Chancellor’s Podium and was sworn into office by Mif Kumas. As Leia watched the dark-furred Bothan taking the formal Oath of Office she felt a strange aura surrounding him.

As Fey’lya faced the Senate and raised his arms in triumph she had a sudden premonition, that the new president would forever change the Republic. The Senate’s cheers resumed, and as their roars of triumph filled the chamber Leia felt a wave of dizziness and her world fell away into darkness.
