Awards WINTER 2004 SAGA READER'S CHOICE AWARDS

The RED CARPET rolls, and the announcer's voice can be heard above the roar of the crowd as searchlights and media droids scour the crowd...

"Men, women, hermaphrodites, and gentlebeings from across the galaxy... I bid you WELCOME to this Winter's Readers' Choice Awards! Please take your seats, and let the... uh-oh."

Screams of confusion begin to ripple through the crowd as the doors to the auditorium slam shut and Imperial Stormtroopers begin filing down the aisles, trapping the audience. A figure, shrouded in a dark cloak approaches the announcer from behind.

"Leave us," a withered, aged face utters from under the hood of the black cloak.

Fearing for her life, Layren flees the stage, leaving the ghastly intruder alone on the stage to cackle with evil delight.

"For those of you whom I have not had the pleasure of torturing," the figure growls, "allow me to introduce myself. I am Palpatine, your Emperor."

"Emperor, eh?" shouts a voice from the crowd. "Well I didn't vote for... urk!"

The owner of the taunting voice gasps for breath, finally collapsing.

"We'll be having none of that nonsense," the Emperor chuckles. "I must admit... I've been watching the progress of these Awards with great interest, and despite my deep desire to simply exterminate the lot of you, I think instead that I will allow this insignificant little ceremony to continue... if only because the votes have been tallied, and everything has transpired according to my desires.

"But first," he continues, "we need to take time to mourn... er, recognize... the wretched souls that have helped to make this pathetic display possible."

"With that bit of worthless pomp out of the way," Palpatine groans, "I'm going to retire to my box seat, and allow Layren to return to the stage.

"But before I do," he notes shrewdly, holding up a finger, "I want you all to know that I have personally reviewed each vote for accuracy. Those of you that most unwisely chose to vote for that brat, Padmé, instead of myself and Lord Vader... an entire legion of my best troops await you in the lobby."

"Thank you for that introduction Chancellor. Er-- Emperor Palpatine," Layren corrects herself as she eyes Palpatine with lightening at his fingertips. "If you would please hand me the envelope before you proceed to your box seat."

Palpatine sneers but hands over the envelope to Layren who is dressed in a navy blue long sleeve dress with a high neck collar. Diamond earrings glitter on her ears and shine in the light.

"Before we begin I personally want to thank all of my helpers for your assistance. This could not have been done without you. I will allow everyone time to settle into their seats before announcing the first round of nominees."

*Enters wearing a long flowing dark red evening dress, slits up to mid thigh on both legs. A cape of equal dark red edged with silver fringes is drapped across her shoulders. Hair is free flowing except for the thin braid behind her right ear.*

I wave at those I know and go to find a seat.

 

Qui-Gon Jinn and I are here as well. Master Jinn is looking particularly handsome tonight in Jedi whites while I have on a one-shouldered deep blue velvet gown sprinkled with rhinestones in a galaxy swirl pattern. Diamonds at the throat and ears complete the ensemble.

Master_Noi enters, eyeing the crowd. This is her first awards ceremony. Seeing familiar faces, she waves and takes a seat.

 

*walks in wearing his fancy tuxedo, looking around* Where? Oh, there.

Anyway, I'm here, bundled up like Kenny from South Park due to the inclement Michigan weather, and handing out squares of hot fried mush in order to celebrate that warm, fuzzy, angst-ridden goo that makes the fanfic world go 'round.
