I find it impossible to root for Chicago in anything unless situations are that dire. Vamos Sky Blue

it's always weird for me to watch ertz play at the back, even though that's her natural position. loved how ellis evolved her into a holding midfielder - she's one of, if not the most versatile players in the world. really excels at every position in the middle of the field, front to back.

chicago playing well, two goals in the first 10. one half to go, but the comeback looks like a longshot, inty.

edit: but they almost did it, from 3 down.

the final hasn't been one of the better matches of the tournament, but it's remarkable what the dash have done. rachel daly has had a fantastic tournament, and should be considered its mvp.

five minutes of stoppage time at 0-1, horrible decision by naeher there to push so far up and concede a second so easily.

According to British football gossip, Man City are looking to add several USWNT players to their squad next season.

Chelsea have snatched up a highly promising Canadian international.

steady stream of elite talent from nwsl to fa wsl continues. $$$

should link up well w/ the canadian international beckie, a world-class forward (who also left the us for europe).

Unfortunately, it's probably best for the growth of the women's game if the established countries for men's soccer have strong women's club football, too. Forces the NWSL to continue to cultivate talent, too, which ultimately continues to help and fuel the USWNT (and, oddly enough, probably hurts England's National Club program since they import stars to play at the highest level)

Sam Mewis says joining Manchester City "is like winning the lottery".

    lol, I bet it is.

I wonder if Abu Dhabi FC make the women's team walk five steps behind the men's team.

phil neville's a finalist for the matildas gig. no idea why the FA is letting him walk, but they'd likely need to find a new boss for euro 2021, should he get this job.

would be tasked with restoring a great program after their awful world cup, but loads of talent to work with.

Another two USWNT players are off to England, this time Manchester United.

My understanding there are issues with NSWL, scheduling and testing - English clubs are taken advantage and getting the cheque books out.

good, get this pos out of the game.

imagine there will be a lot of potential investors, a good fanbase in a unique market. jj watt indicated he may be.

yuki nagasato (chicago red stars) has been loaned out to a men's club in a lower-tiered japanese league, hayabusa eleven.

press and heath announced as loan moves to untied, through the end of the season. ugh.

So very excited about this news!

It's also pretty cool that the club decided that buying the license of an established team is "not the Dortmund way" and instead are starting at the lowest tier, putting themselves at least eight seasons out from top flight women's football.

rounding out the uswnt/wsl short-term/season loans is alex morgan to spurs. she's got more international experience than anyone other than press - they each spent a year abroad, i think. bit more surprising, as she's just had her first child.

    so far:
    city - lavelle/mewis
    united - press/heath
    spurs - morgan

emily sonnett has moved on loan to a club in the swedish premier division. would not be surprised if ol reign (formerly seattle) moved some of their players over for the remainder of the year, too.

good to get the experience in the countries that have handled covid competently. hopefully means a better NWSL 21-22 season and future, when they come back.

awful red card from savannah mccaskill. league should be chicago's for the taking, in whatever form the "fall series" is. playing with 10, big chance for washington to steal a point in 2H.

So I'm watching this Chelsea/Man City WSL game, NBC carrying with the PL on an int'l break. The amount of world-class talent on either side is staggering, but the quality of play, especially the defending, has not been what I expected. Would expect something close to the pace and play of an international game. Not going to judge the league on one game, but it's been a bit disappointing.

Great to see Kerr play, though. She's been brilliant.

as a fan of both SW and the women's game, it's going to be hard to pass on stanning this team, impossible if they sign press (they will)

ps how did jimmy fallon get his own interviewing show, he is a terrible interviewer
