In ROJ, when Luke removes Vader’s helmet, Vader looks proper old and knackered. This has nowt to do with the fact Luke has just battered him. Therefore do you think he would’ve retired if he’d never found Luke? And if so, what would he have done with all his extra time? I can’t imagine he’d work part-time in B & Q but then again he might be skint.

I think the Sith retirement plan generally extends to "being stabbed fatally with a lightsaber" at the best of times.

Jedi retirement plan = Force Ghosts

    Sith retirement plan = Death

I don't think he would've retired. I do think Sidious might have had him killed if Sidious thought that he was no longer useful as a Sith apprentice. The Sith are ruthless and destroy their own when their own are no longer useful to them.

Yep, Sidious is always someone who likes to have that backup plan in place before acting.

The wage is great and it's not the taxes that will kill you

But i guess you must already work in the firm to get the job

One goes to job fairs and places ads on the Holonet. [face_laugh]

The pay is good but you don't get any vacation and are expected to sacrifice your family for the job.

Did Vader and Maul get a 401-Sith Plan? Job was also probably advertised on the darkside web..... :p

Of course they did. All part of the standard Sith benefits package.

Isn't Vader only 43-ish by the time of ROTJ? With Dooku being in his 70's and still doing flips, surely Vader would be kept around until a younger, more powerful offspring of his overpowers him. All according to Palpatine's plan.

Retired? Anakin was around 25 in ROTS, ANH takes place 20 years later, and let's say ROTJ takes place 4 to 5 years after ANH, maybe less. So Vader would have been around 50 when he died. Dooku and Sidious were much older than that and still very active. I don't see any reason why Vader would just quit being a Sith at that age. What would he have done? Same thing other Sith generally do, fight rebels and other enemies, overthrow their masters, find new apprentices etc. Of course, he might eventually have been "retired" by Sidious or his apprentice some day, but in the Blade Runner sense!

Aging seems very uneven in Star Wars. Neither Vader nor Obi-Wan are particularly old in ANH or ROTJ but time hasn't been particularly kind to them. They both look way older than they actually are. If you compare how old Obi-Wan looks in ANH to someone like Qui-Gon in TPM it's pretty ridiculous. I just kind of run with it and try not to think about it too much as it might ruin my immersion otherwise.

And interestingly with Luke in Legends during his later years, it was exactly the other way around

He looked way too young for his age.

Judging by the evidence, I think I'll pass on their dental plan and pay out of pocket for a private provider.

Apparently Vader's medical insurance did not cover burns.

Alas, no, it did not. It did cover a menacing black suit. The Sith medical insurance focuses on providing whatever medical care is necessary to make the Sith more intimidating.

There should be a mandatory retirement age for Sith.

The Sith never retire, just like the Jedi never did. Yoda’s centuries old by ROTS.

The reason Vader looks as he did is due to Mustafar and 24 years of being stuck inside a helmet with no exposure to the sunlight.
