Speculation Would you go watch a "what if" or alternate universe movie?

Yeah, I probably would (actually I know I would)I like reboots and orAU's so long as there is a good plot. I hope they would call it something other than Episode 7.

Some major movie franchises have done well executed reboots: Star Trek and James Bond come to mind immediately. If done right, they can be a lot of fun.

I wouldn't mind if it's not Episode VII, VIII, or IX.

Han Solo becomes a crime lord.
Lando has a price on his head.
Anakin grows into adulthood on Tatooine and frees the slaves.
Jango and Boba as a father/son team.
Padme is controlled by Palpatine and becomes the Empress. She and Anakin still fall in love even though they are enemies.

Not as a movie, no. To properly explore an AU, one must follow it for a long period of time. Novels are much better suited for this.

No. Star Wars is a big universe with more than 30k years of history so with a lot of opportunities to tell good and interesting stories that will expand this world. Making something like that - alternate universe or what if - is just pointless, waste of money.

The Star Trek reboot, just repackaged the spirit and story outline of ANH! Which was good.

Star Trek doing an alternate reality to reboot the franchise totally worked because time travel and alternate realities is in the very fabric of Star Trek stories. Star Wars? Not so much.

Jar Jar is an evil genius
Palpatine is a senile old man
    Anakin's new name is Anakant
Obi Wan has a Fu Man Chu mustache and can fire lazers out of his eyes
Instead of lightsaber fights, spitting matches

Speaking of AU, I was under the impression the oft-delayed SW live action series SW:Underworld was based on an AU event?

Well, considering that I am willing to watch fan films that are essentially fan-produced AU, I would say that denotes a willingness to watch an AU movie.

Or even worse, he quits being Batman for eight years, for no apparent reason, then overcomes a nonsense injury almost immediately to suffer another debilitating injury and...

You know what, I'm just going to stop myself and go have a cigarette.

I wouldn't want to watch it no, but I wouldn't mind reading it in the form of a comic or a novel.

I'd watch it out of curiousity, but I probably wouldn't approve.

They'd really have to be short on ideas to do this; aside from the hardcore fans, who would really follow the alternate universe thing? I'd say a remake is more likely than this happening.

Seeing anakin solo alive is the number one reason i hope episode vii breaks continuity with the eu.

I'd love to see it happen but since Lucas killed Anakin in SBS since we might confuse Grandfather and Grandson I don't see Anakin Solo in any form coming back.
