Ok, I think I have a new favorite character and I haven't even seen the movie yet.

How did Rapunzel get her blond hair back?

 

Why would you think she shouldn't have it? It's on the internet, and if you search for images of Disney's Rapunzel, what do you think shows up?


Apart from that, there is also a Rapunzel animated series, and in that she has her long, blond hair. I've never watched it, but I assume there is a reason given.

 

Rapunzel was on cable last night and she explained that when her hair is cut, it turns brown. At the end of the movie, Flynn cuts off all her hair. Then she can be spotted in Frozen still with the short hair. I was wondering if there was an in universe explanation how she got the long blond back.

Edit: I didn't know there was an animated series. It appears she got it back in Season 1 of the show. Thanks!

 

There doesn't have to be an in universe explanation, because the characters are within the internet and appear to be self-aware. They're the real versions of the fictional characters

 

Sure, I guess I'm mixing up the princess's internet representations verses their "real life" canon representations. With that said, I wonder if Ariel will have the ability to switch from mermaid to human and vice versa.

 

Either that or stuck in that USS Callista episode of Black Mirror.

 

Is that the Ariel who's now the mother of a girl "Melody" (see Little Mermaid 2)?

 

I've only seen Little Mermaid 2 once a LONG time ago. Did Ariel have that ability in that movie or the girl did right?

 

My life was missing a thread that has in depth discussion about the Disney Princess Extended Universe and if they needed canonical representation in other Disney properties

I like to pretend that all of those DTV sequels were some social experiment of masochism designed by Michael Eisner.

 

What DTV sequels? I certainly don't remember any DTV sequels or prequels. Now if they could actually put some of those Disney Afternoon shows on DVD, that would be appreciated.

Well, at least we're not discussing if these Princesses were ever kidnapped by Heartless as part of some overly complicated and convoluted plot.

 

The Princess' bit popped so much in the trailer I fully expect half the ad campaign to be the princesses in Wreck It Ralph 2

 

I'm excited but at the same time this looks like The Emoji Movie

 

I really liked the first one, but I'm not expecting too much from this. There's too much focus on pop culture references instead of the actual story.

No, I’m pretty sure that a film series premises explicitly on a stand-in for formerly popular video games visiting other popular media franchises was always going to lean heavily into nostalgic pop culture references.

This is like saying RPO was only reference-laden in its trailer.

I mean the trailers are the only thing I have to base my expectations on. Maybe there are interesting story elements that Disney just decided not to showcase, but I think it's better to lower my expectations than get my hopes up.
