And it’s been done, Phil Spencer has said that only platforms with game pass will have Bethesda games out side of contract obligations (ghostwire Tokyo and Death loop) also said that games like elder scrolls online and Fallout 76 would continue to be supported on other platforms.

 

Not the biggest news, but it looks like Xbox live is being rebranded to Xbox network.

Man I’ve been on a Xbox kick. Have been playing lots of Fable 2 and I’m really surprised how great it looks running on XX upscaled to 4K. I haven’t even hooked the thing up to my big tv yet cause my son has been here but it shall soon be upscaled to 8K on the 75in.

 

So finally managed to get a series X today though Xbox all access!

 

Woohoo! I've been enjoying the Pirates of the Caribbean expansion for Sea of Thieves.

 

Nice! I’m personally looking forward to playing Halo infinite when that’s out. But I also want to play outer worlds.

 

I've started playing Halo 5. As with Halo 4 I've got absolutely no idea what's going on. Like, I understand the basic premise of: "go here, shoot the things, blow this up, happy days," but I'm none the wiser as to why I'm doing these things or why Master Chief now has a squad that isn't standard marines or precisely who/what the new enemy race is or why we're still fighting the Covenant. I've played every Halo game with the exception of ODST and Wars 1&2. Should I be this lost?

 

Yes, we all were when playing 5. MC team is from the books though and I'm irked we haven’t seen anything looking like they are returning in Infinite.

 

I guessed it might be more stuff from books. That really put me off Halo 4 when the whole plot was basically: "Oh, you've not read the books? Well screw you!"

Awful, awful storytelling.

 

the terminals covered the story of the forrunners/Didact/librarian. But yes you could also read the Forerunner trilogy

 

Halo Reach was the last great Halo. Hopefully 6 will change that.

 

The Fall of Reach. Not only enlightening but amazingly good scifi.

 

Me too, but I should probably play the actual other Halo games first. They're short luckily so I think I can..might start the first one when I finish Ratchet and Clank this weekend.

 

The first Outer Worlds is a relatively quick game, but its quality really shows in the conversations you have.

 

umm yes. Get on them. I’m not sure how well they have aged but holy sith when Halo 1 came out it was straight up mind blowing cutting edge awesomesauce. Be interesting to see what you make of going from Bungie to 343.

 

I'm gonna be biased towards Bungie I know, being a big Destiny fan

 

During the UKs on and off lockdowns I went through all the games on Legendary with my brother, and on the first game there’s a level called Assault on the control room, pretty sure it broke my brother. But give them a go they are definitely good and why 343 has done over the last year or more to make the MCC playable is amazing.

 

I finished Halo 5 last night. That was...underwhelming. I preferred it to Halo 4, but that's a low bar. On the plus side, I liked the shooting a lot and the sprint and bash mechanic was fun (my inner Destiny Titan is showing). The story was a bit of a mess though. No idea why Cortana's turned heel or who the hell Fireteam Osiris is or why I'm playing as them. They should've learnt after Halo 2 that playing as anyone other than Master Chief is crap. It feels like I got served half a story.

 

I actually really liked Arbiter levels. I wish they would have continued that in 3 and/or a post-3 game with the Elites breaking away from the Covenant.

Edit: It went a long way to showing these are alien species with codes, personalities, and beliefs instead of “shoot the thing because its there.” We have the Flood for that.
