He will have a lot of adventures with the new squadron
    Thanks for reading

And the postcard has arrived. Always a great place to visit.

    Entry 10

The CO introduced me as junior to the members of the squadron after the good simulator run. And he told me that he had contacted Mon Mothma about Jeffrey. She is happy knowing that Jeffrey has found a new job.

Being a junior in the squadron is great fun.

Firefighters have their pranks and I have seen a lot of them at the expence of me when I was a medevac pilot. Doctors and nurses have fun too and these pilots, ah they are having fun. Yesterday the pants of my flight-suit were glued-together and I remarked – showing them to Ialis – that I have seen them sown-together before. I had to dip them in water and wearing slightly wet pants I went to the simulator.

Today I discovered water in my boots.

    It doesn’t matter.

Poor guy! [face_laugh] At least he's kind of used to this particular brand of "welcome". Though hopefully it'll come to an end soon -- at least as much as it ever does with pilots.

    it never does

    Entry 11

I was wearing purple socks today. But now they are in the laundry with my flightsuit and medbay-scrubs.

This morning I was headed to the simulator in my flightsuit and purple socks when I passed one of the engine-rooms. I heard a scream and that had me running inside and seeing one of the technicians with a spike of durasteel in his thigh. I rushed to his aid, managed to stop the immediate danger of bleeding out and carried him with assist from his co-worker to the medbay. There I placed techie Cal on a gurney, ordered a 2-1B to assist me and rushed into a familiar place – the changing cubicles – after grabbing a clearplast satchel with green scrubs. The 2-1B had my patient on the table. A doctor – fully clad in green scrubs – rushed in just as I was guiding Cal into sedation. The doctor could remove the spike. I remained with Cal in the recovery-room until he regained consciousness. I told Cal that he has to take meds to fight the infection.

In my green scrubs I went back to the changing cubicle, collected my flightsuit and socks and went back to my cabin.

The CO contacted me about the simulator run and told me not to worry when I told him about the accident.

    Entry 12

After a practise-run I was with Sean Crico watching a holopic. But loudly rumbling stomachs had me quite distracted. I suggested a trip to the galley area to make some vegetable stew. I fished for my clogs – now worn by more members after they had seen the easy use – and followed Sean. He knew a galley stocked to the brim with delicacies.

It was known as the Talon pantry.

I found a large pan with vegetarian food and searched for a bowl. I ladled a bowl full of the beans and sausages and took a spoon. A sausage was first. It was delicious and just like Mick used to make.

Sean found – for me disgusting – Nerf soup with greasy floating ice (lumps of fat) and little black burned chunks.

After finishing the food and going back to our room we resumed watching the holopic.

I fel asleep after that like a log but cramps had me waking up. Even Iffy noticed my distress. I managed to get to the sink before emptying my stomach. Beans and sausages were still recognisable. I used the Force to quieten down my stomach, took a clearplast bag out of the waste container and scooped some of the vomit in it. From Iffy I got one of the anti nausea pills. I donned my clogs and headed with Iffy to the medbay. Analyzing my vomit confirmed that the food was the source. I threw my vomit and sweat-stained blue shirt in a laundry bin after spotting a clearplast wrapped surgical gown. I donned that and commed the Talon CO.

I had the results of the test and a recipe to counter the effects on the monitor when the CO came in.

    He said “Kevin Ski”

I told him about my mishap and that I had taken Mick Kerebuy’s hyperdrive fuel pills to recover.

He didn’t need all the medical details and wanted to make sure that none of his squadron members had ingested the Bullwinkle concoction. He hurried away after thanking me.

Never a dull moment! It's a lucky thing that Jason happened to be around when that accident happened; his medical skills are already helping. And yikes, the stomach upset! Been there, done that, still feel unease with the last food I ate before it. [face_sick] Not fun times. Good thing Jason has the "hyperdrive fuel pills" ([face_laugh] what a descriptive name) to ease the effects!

@Kahara is right, never a dull moment.

But what I love about your stories is that your medical staff is well equipped and always wins the day. Just as it should be in reality not only in a SF story. Sigh.

But thanks for a ray of light and hope. @};-

and more dirty things in the next entry

    Entry 13

Cal is released from medbay but still on medication for the infection.

I used the medbay and its equipment again today.

Sean Crico, one of the veterans of Blade Squadron, tried to feed me doctored porridge but it backfired on him and I had to treat him in the medbay. And in getting him something decent I went to the galley area and whipped up a nice fruit-pie. That pie was for Sean and I had put enough sedative in it to have Sean sleeping off the bad porridge.

Pies don’t deserve sampling with your hands. You see master sergeant Bullwinkle had his dirty index-finger in the centre of my fruit pie. And he passed out because he sampled enough to get the sedative working. I was examining him when one of his team-mates came. He was dressed the same. He introduced himself as Qui-Sein Delph from Talon Intelligence Squadron and wanted to know how I had knocked out the master sergeant. I promised to send Bullwinkle some of my recipes because I had created his mishap and picked up my fruit pie.

Sean dug into the pie and was soon asleep. I used a Force-suggestion – learned long ago from Tarko Sanek – to have him when he is waking up refreshed and feeling alright.

And being well equipped in a med bay! Imagine that. A true SF story right now. But it feels good to read about health care as it should be.

Thirded! :) And I'm glad that Jason was able to help Sean -- in spite of his attempts at porridge shenanigans. :p All jokes and silliness aside, he's a dedicated healer and takes care of his patients no matter what. Though he's not above getting a little of his own back by making sure these folks are really getting their proper sleep.

and health-care with some groups was alright (not Palpatine's way)
he is a healer wanting to see more of the galaxy

    Entry 14

I had mailed recipes to master sergeant Bulwinkle. But what did he do with them? I found out today when I was wandering towards the galley area and heard the unmistakable sounds of complaining men and women. I rushed in to find sergeant Bullwinkle staring at the ceiling, oggling something that was sticking there but not there alone.

More of the greasy thingies were slithering down the wall and I doubled over with laughter when I saw what they were.

Bullwinkle – recently recovered from his ordeal with the fruit pie – had been trying – after finding the recipe in the galley to make nerfburgers, greasy nerfburgers at that and had used – obviously – too much grease. And to make it even worse he had used the pancake-flip-method to turn them in the pan.

Bullwinkle explained that the recipe lacked one ingredient.

I heard the snickering about the burgers outside the galley and went to see the men and women.

They were from Talon Intelligence Squadron and one of them – a feline – asked about the recipe. Other members wanted to know more.

I began a lecture about grease and health and now all the Talons know that I am a doctor too.

    Entry 15

Yesterday I had another emergency. I was leaving the gym after a workout when I saw one of the guys busy with weights collapsing. I rushed back. He told me that he was having cramps yesterday and had vomitted his diner. The cramps had abated and he decided to have a work-out. I didn’t trust his white face and told him to follow me to the medbay for some examination. And Lenny did after I had told him about being a doctor.

I took samples to the analyzing equipment. And after seeing the results I ordered Lenny to undress and lay down on a stretcher. I used the echo-equipment and was now sure. The man had a ruptured appendix. Going to the 2-1B I ordered him to get the OT ready and the patient on the table. I went to a changing cubicle and after getting my greens into the OT where I was met by the team. I could sedate Lenny. He is now doing fine. The senior medical officer was very pleased with my work and told me that I should see the Coruscant University Med Centre. ‘We are going to Crix-base. When we arrive, go and visit,’ was what he said when I was scrubbing.

    Entry 16

I had been to simulator training with Iffy and was returning to the quarters of Blade squadron and halted when there was some movement in the gym. Some guys were dressed in identical sweats, the crest Delta squad blazoned across each chest. They were marines. And there was a haphazardly dressed mix of beings. A black and grey feline – wearing only a heavy combat harness – ordered them to start with crunches. Crunches were followed by an obstacle run with the sweats acting orderly and the mixed group messing around and making a lot of noise. One of the sweats landed rather awkward on his head. I saw him after the exercise moving unsteady towards and sitting down at one of the benches. The gym emptied of marines.

I hurried with Iffy to an elevator that took us down to the gym.

The marine had a large lump on the forehead. I treated him and told him to take it easy.

Whatever they're paying Jason, it's not enough! :p Definitely not just another X-wing pilot. He really keeps a close eye on the rest of the crew and this marine is just the latest he's kept from bad injuries or worse.

    and he will do more
And what will Iffy do after the next entry?

    Entry 17

The Hands Down is now in Crix base.

That’s a gigantic facility for cruisers needing updates or repairs. I was in my cabin when the senior medical officer contacted me. He had a severely injured crewmember needing the specialized care of the great Coruscant University Med Centre. His left leg was nearly severed above the knee. I scrubbed, donned greens and an isolation-suit, just in case. The patient was in a med-capsule when I arrived in the hangar. I guided the med-capsule into the waiting transport and ordered to the pilot to get us as soon as possible to the university. A professor and his students were at the entrance and whisked patient and me to the ER-room. I discarded my isolation-suit when I heard that the ER-doctor wanted to amputate the leg and took over. The leg could be saved. I ordered the students to get scrubbing and suiting up if they wanted to see what I was doing. Richard Ellery was the professor and he and his students joined me.

Ellery gave his usual comments. Reviewing the successful procedure Ellery asked me to stay in a guestroom. ‘Tomorrow I am celebrating my 32th birthday. You are invited.’

That was yesterday and I was also celebrating my 32th birthday at his place when his pager began to beep. I followed him and soon we were again working side by side. After that procedure he offered to become my teacher for microsurgery.

Today I had a meeting with my CO and told him about the study. He had a report from the senior medical officer on his desk and told me that he would make that possible.

    Entry 18

I have been promoted after joining the Crix-base X-wing squadron. And with Crix-base near Coruscant I can study. And that’s a lot of work joining Professor Ellery and his students almost every day in the OT. The CO of the squadron allows me to be away from Crix-base but my X-wing remains at the base. I have to take a shuttle to and from the university. And each time I leave I hear the mournful tweets of Iffy.

    Iffy was happy today.

The squadron had to join a squadron on a stardestroyer on a mission to bring supplies to Yavin IV.

As an escort to one of the transport-shuttles I landed in the great hangar on Yavin IV where I had to go after Iffy. The astromech had disengaged from the X-wing after hearing some tootling sounds. I found him twittering and tootling with an old astromech, servicing an X-wing. A blonde-haired man with sky-blue eyes was busy in the equipment-bay and when he turned I sensed an immense power.

He introduced himself as Luke Skywalker and asked me to join him for lunch.

I did and during that lunch I met his sister Leia.

After the lunch he followed me to the hangar and asked me if I would join his academy to become a Jedi-knight.

I declined. My medical study has priority.

Aww, poor Iffy is lonely when his pilot is away at school! Sweet droid! [face_love] I liked that his first reaction to Artoo was IT'S GOSSIP TIME BEEP BEEP! [face_laugh] Glad that Jason got to meet Luke and Leia, though I can totally understand him not wanting to take on Jedi training. He's already got two very demanding things going on with his continuing medical education and the squadron!

Iffy sure will be bored but

    Entry 19

I have been quite busy studying under Professor Ellery and didn’t see this diary at all.

I had made notes on a flimsy after I came back from Yavin IV about a practice run where I told my CO that I had to go to the university as soon as possible. I could take the X-wing to the university and was told after landing that I had to report immediately to the professor. I doffed my flightsuit and placed that on the seat of the X-wing where Iffy was staying.

Professor Ellery had a procedure planned and needed my assistance. Back in the changing room he told me that the exams were next month.

I flew the X-wing back to Crix-base and told the CO about the exams.

I could take one of the shuttles back to Coruscant and forgot to take my diary.

I became a fully qualified surgeon for microsurgery. Contacting my CO he told me that I got promoted and would be joining a new squadron. The CO of that squadron gave me even more time to assist in the university.

That was almost nine years ago.

Yesterday I had to report to the CO. He gave me a bag containing my flightsuit from Crix-base squadron. ‘You can use it to go to Corellia where you will be an instructor at flight-school. We have now new flightsuits. Give your old gear to the quartermaster.’

I had donned the old flightsuit and had plotted a route to Corellia with Iffy’s help. I was trying to get some sleep. An annoying bulge in one of the pockets kept me from resting and I began to explore that pocket. It was my diary and I could write/record entry 19 during the trip.
