    1) Flying High - "Surely you can't be serious..."
    2) The Wedding Singer - "Las Vegas! It's the romance capital of the world!"
    3) This is Spinal Tap - "(long pause) These go to eleven..."
    4) Ferris Bueller's Day Off - "Anybody?...Anybody?..........Anybody?"
    5) Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - with Iain McDiarmid as Arthur the butler (his delivery of the line "Oh Shut up!" to Steve Martin cracks me up every time).

I saw Bubba Ho-Tep the other day. I was greatly dissapointed. I got that bored that I stopped watching right after the cowboy got killed. I thought in the video shop "Hey! Great! Bubba Ho-Tep! This should be goood!" Oh how wrong I was.

"Fun with Dick and Jane" is a funny movie...
And it's also an interesting case study of corporate greed,
in light of the recent Enron scandals in the US.
    Has anybody here seen it???

I dunno if it's in my top 5,
but it's worth a look nonetheless.

    with your own mum that is.8-}

I didn't like it so much. It had good moments but not enough to keep me interested.

It's also another in a long line of movies that tries to teach people that you will be happier in poverty and that the wealthy man is evil and greedy and can only make his money through dishonesty.

Did you watch this movie with subtitles Neech???

I ask because some of your points seem at odds to the film I saw. Firstly, with the 'being happier in poverty' bit... It seemed clear to me that Dick and Jane weren't that happy in poverty, judging from the things they resort to. Also with the whole dishonest 'wealthy' thing... I think this film needs to be seen more specifically in light of the recent corporate scandals in the US. I don't really feel that it generalises rich people as such.. it's more so a satirical glance, at a specific corporate microcosm.

I do however, think that as far as Jim Carrey comedies go, "Fun with Dick and Jane" is somewhat lighter on the guffaws. Nevertheless, it still showcases his usual antics, and I actually enjoyed the various in-jokes and mini-homages wedged within. A comedy that makes you think, but still has Fun with it... that's how I'd describe this film.

Sorry CJ, maybe I didn't make my point clear...

Sure, the characters were unhappy at first when they went into poverty and then they turned to crime to find their happiness again but the movie's main underlying theme is that wealth is evil and will eventually destroy you (that's why Dick and Jane did the charitable thing at the end to redeem themselves).

Dick and Jane may not be the best example of this type of movie but I have seen many movies recently that have similar concepts (Cheaper by the Dozen comes to mind).

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from Neech...
but at the risk of spoiling the movie for others here,
I will let this discussion rest at that.

Oh, and I never really bothered with Cheaper by the Dozen,
so I guess the reference is lost on me.

After watching our crap VHS version of The Holy Grail on Sunday night ( and teaching Finn to say Ni all over again ) we bought the tin case DVD version today. Must say I'm eager to watch the extras. What is "the Holy Grail in Lego" ?

ON another tangent, I almost ordered my copy of Serenity in a tin collectors box too! Anyone done this yet?
