Saga Your Top 5 Favourite Star Wars Music Themes

This wasn't easy to decide and the order depends entirely on my mood but here is my top 5 favourite compositions:

1) The Force
2) The Imperial March
3) The Emperor's Theme
4) Main Title Theme
5) Cantina Band (Mad About me)

What's your top 5 favourite?

 

1) Throne Room (ANH) Such a grand and triumphant theme to end an amazing movie!

2) Across the Stars (AOTC) Possibly the most beautiful theme in the series. Love the mix of the soft romantic theme with the sound of the horns signaling the coming war. Feels like two young lovers ripped apart by a greater conflict.

3) Clash of Lightsabers (TESB) Seems to be overshadowed by the Asteroid and Yoda themes but honestly I feel this one perfectly captures the essence of TESB. From the creeping opening to the powerful presence of the imperial theme, you really feel like the Empire is striking back. The theme is intermingled with a feeling of hope however, even in the darkest times. Amazing theme for my favorite movie.

4) Main Title Theme - The theme that started it all. Fun and iconic. Gets me hyped every time! What more is there to say about this legendary theme?

5) The Clones (TCW) This theme might not be as well known but I love it so much. It has a somber start and slowly rises to the sound of drums in the background. If only this theme were a bit longer... Also helps that it was used in one of my personal favorite episodes of the tv show, Rookies.

Honorable Mention: Rogue Squadron Main Theme - I loved playing this game as a kid on my old N64. This theme is a major nostalgia trip.

 

Certainly a very interesting selection! I overlooked many of these. I have to admit... I HATED The Clone Wars theme. I literally used to forward it every time it came on.

 

From the 6 main films, I'd pick Duel of the Fates, Palpatines theme, Across the Galaxy, Dexters Diner, Qui Gons funeral and Yodas Death music.

 

1. Anakin's Theme (TPM) - Peaceful, wondrous, with a hint of approaching darkness. For me this theme more than any other is a story in itself.

2. Victory Celebration (ROTJ) - love the hint of melancholy it adds to the ending of the I-VI cycle. Made a great ending even more meaningful.

3. Across the Stars (AOTC) - epic and intimate at the same time.

4. The Final Duel (ROTJ) - epic in a manner that evokes a battle between gods.

5. Padme's Ruminations (ROTS) - haunting. Much like the scene it belongs to, rewrote the "rules" for me regarding the stylistic range of the series.
