ST JJ Abrams to direct Episode VII

I'm a JJ fan. Liked the new Trek,Super 8 and his Mission:Impossible. I think he's a big fan too so that's a good thing.

I can't believe how many people fell for this hoax.

 

The only reason I'd want Damon Lindelof involved would be to bring Brian K. Vaughan along so that he'd be involved with Star Wars. I knew him in high school and the man KNOWS his Star Wars and he KNOWS how to write. Arndt is great and everything. I would just like Vaughan's rising star path to continue even if it's with a different SW movie later on (just read his Saga series).

 

Can't wait. Just need confirmation. Abrams should do a great job, just no damn lens flares!

 

I don't want a whole Horn movie, just an appearance or a minor role...

Dude JJ is likely only doing Episode VII, and Arnt is writing it. There is no room for any other writers according to what we know. Arnt is a good enough writer he doesn't really need help. JJ isn't suddenly bringing in his writing freinds to take over for Arnt. Not happening. Episode VIII will likely have another director and maybe another writer, but assuming Abrams won't be involved in VIII, its safe to say he writing buddies won't be involved in that one either.

I've admittedly never seen any projects directed by J.J. Abrams, but I'm super excited that we may finally have our director nailed down. I might check out some of his stuff for curiosity's sake, but I'm definitely withholding judgement until the movie is out, because each project has different circumstances surrounding it (be it the scriptwriter, the cast, the source material itself if there is source material, etc.). Also, apparently lens flare is a pretty big deal, but I don't think it's something that bothers me in movies/TV shows I have seen. I'll need to check out the new Star Trek movie, if only to see what people are talking about.

Regardless, in the meantime, I'll be hoping for the best!

 

I doubt LFL will confirm tonight. Hopefully a press release tomorrow morning. Then we can kick into the casting speculation in high gear.

No, I agree with you. You invalidated my statement. I incorrectly presumed when someone else stated it was up at ABC News that it was an ABC report and not coming from the AP feed. That said, there's a high probability, the best evidence at the moment being a tweet by Orci confirming, that the hiring by Kennedy is true.
