Right on. That's why I said "even if it's with a different SW movie later on".

You're right. Brian K. Vaughan is amazing, and Saga is amazing. That said, I hope they leave the writing to Arndt, as he has already written a treatment for the entire ST and has a lot of passion and a clear direction for the story.

I took another look @ that tweet:
    http://twitter.com/boborci/status/294598131310555136

Did he say "True!" in response to the question, or in response to the last part of the questioner's tweet?

    > "... So far just a lot of 'sources say' ..."
    > "True!"

    ?-)

Yep. He's an arguably average writer but a frequent collaborator and friend of JJ/Bad Robot.

Orci is one of Abrams closest collaborators, if he says it's true; it is.

So will the trailer for EP 7 be from the Writer of Toy Story 3 and Little Miss Sunshine, and the Director of Star Trek and MI:3, George Lucas's original brain child.... Then no title card or clip, just a release date....

So will we get a Bad Robot Production opening to EP 7 or are they waving that since it is SW?

It'll likely be at the end of the credits. Only change to the opening will be the Disney castle logo instead of the Fox logo.

Although I wonder what will happen with the DGA. They forced Lucas out (basically) for not including any credits at the beginning of the movies, I wonder how Abrams will handle it. Maybe the DGA will make some "Star Wars" exception to the rule since there will be so many more movies?

I'm still not convinced that he really confirmed it though.
Apologies for repeating myself here. (NOT trying to ignore forum rules and etiquette.) Anybody agree I might have a valid point here? Did Mr. Orci truly confirm, or was he merely agreeing that 'just a lot of sources say...'?

I was convinced at the Variety article. Variety is the trade paper in Hollywood - as someone said, it isn't exactly Aintitcool. If Variety printed it, it's pretty much confirmed.

Again, we're not just talking about some random site. Deadline, The Wrap, and Hollywood Reporter are very, very influential sources. We're talking about showbiz trades who actually care, to some extent, about their journalistic reputation. They don't go throwing around the phrase "it's confirmed" just to get hits. And when they get stuff wrong, heads should fly. Again, isn't "Joe-Bob Fanboy's Cavalcade of Movie News."

And yet every time a trade source reports a confirmed story (like with Arndt), everyone on this board turns into Ben friggin Bradlee yelling at Woodward and Bernstein. I know Star Wars fans are used to the Word of Lucasfilm providing them biblical canon on everything including how Wedge Antilles grooms his privates, but that's just not how the rest of the industry works.

I think they'll have to waive it, as all Star Wars is a LFL production. No other production company has ever been used, because Star Wars has never been directed by someone who had their own production company except Lucas.

    I see. Consider that dismissed.

I am still inclined to believe Deadline for the moment.

This will be a LFL production. Star Wars is a LUCAS creation and production and is being produced under that tentpole with Kathy Kennedy assuming the role that George once had as executive producer. Star Wars is not owned by Bad Robot, so that company will not come into play.

furcifer why are you upset about JJ being the director? That is the greatest news I have heard since Disney buying Lucasfilm

I stopped blindly trusting them years ago, for a reason I won't detail here ... Suffice it to say, I won't believe everything I read, regardless of where I'm reading it.

I'm not. Where did I say I was upset about JJ being the director? Quote me where I said that, or where you think I said it. That said, you are free to interpret my words as you wish, even if wrongly. Go in peace and May the Force be with you my friend.

One thought here on Abrams' films and TV shows:

He likes flashbacks. They were used a lot in Alias and in Lost, and apparently they're used a lot in Revolution as well.

I thought of the thread here with Luke seeing the prequels through flashbacks and wondered how likely flashback scenarios are, with Abrams directing.

Maybe no more than they were before since, as someone said, he doesn't write the script.

I'm personally not a fan of flashbacks.

I think he won't use them. He may however do something along the lines of Young Spock/Young Kirk before getting into it. But honestly I doubt it, this film is what his entire career has been moving towards. Even Star Trek he directed like a Star Wars, not all Science Talk but Action. He will do good.
