Don't crap on me when I'm speaking favorably and objectively about the Lit forum. Ain't no need for that.

 

I was thinking, what if none of the EU characters appear and their are just characters similar to the ones in the EU? Maybe they'll just leave the EU characters alone.

 

That alone would cause major problems for the EU... As this is Episode VII and therefore Generation 3 of the Skywalker family, we'll almost certainly get a character that's the son/daughter of the previous trilogy. If it's not an EU figure, that'd screw up the EU by itself.

Really a horrible situation for those that insist on keeping everything canon. I don't see it happening, and to my mind there's nothing wrong with rendering some stories non-canon... or to use the proper religious term... apocryphal.

 

Ugh, I'd be so pissed if none of the EU characters are in the ST.

I'm not implying that the ST will revolve around anything that Zahn has written about, because it will not. This has already been established.

I think if LFL ever planned to adhere to present EU canon in going forward with the new films, they would have to have decided this very early in the writing process. And if they thought the EU important enough to keep they would not have any reason to play coy with it, they could have told us that already.
If they thought it was a strength to adhere to EU they would already have told us they were going to do it. The insecurity is probably already hurting book sales.

 

I don't cut hair, but i enjoy JJ's work, and i'm definitely not supershadow lol. As to the other two things, only time will tell. Think of me as "a source behind the source of the force."

With 3 new films set post ROTJ and now rumours of 3 more films which will occur sometime in the PT-OT timeline with some of the existing characters (Han/Yoda/Boba fett) will this create even more problems for EU continuity?
