Speculation OFFICIAL Episode VII/Spin-Off Casting Rumors and Speculation Thread

Sorry for my ignorance, but is that picture supposed to be Mara Jade? The picture of the the singer looks like she is in her 50s or so. Perhaps she is going to be Mara since Luke is going to be 60 years old in this movie too.

The Picture is Florence Welch. She's 26. Google up some pics. She has the kinda face that could be age-ambiguous across a wide range, from mature-looking 20s to young-looking late 40s.

Based on her appearance, Mara is the first and most obvious character that springs to my mind.

 

I'm calling major BS on that rumor.

Also...not every red head chick they cast in this movie is gunna be Mara Jade. If Mara jade is in this she'll probably be in her 40s or 50s *so sorry dudes who think that a 20 year old Mara is gunna happen cause unless they make Luke also in his 20s, which would require recasting, then I dont think we're going to be seeing 60-year old Luke hooking up with some 20 year old girl. He's old enough to be her father, for christ sakes!*

 

I'm just hoping that there is a really great mix of both American and British actors in the movie. Really strong British characters that can bring the Empire back to its might.

 

When you say "British" what are you thinking? Received pronunciation?

Cockney is also British, and also from London, but is rather more likely to be associated with underworld types than Imperial officers.

Then there are Geordie accents, Welsh accents, Liverpool accents etc.

You will all understand if I say that this Florence Welch rumor is perhaps the most nonsensical and blatantly obvious BS rumor in terms of casting we've gotten yet. No way Disney/LucasFilm is going to go for someone who's never acted before in her life in a single movie.

 

If this rumor is true and she is one of the leads. Then between her and Meyers your main characters are trending to be in the 30-40 age range. Looks like they may be moving away from the "coming of age" approach.

 

Begun the stupid casting rumors have.

Just think....this is just the start. Be happy this "rumor" isn't catching on cause once major sites start reporting casting rumors then it just all goes downhill and we all go insane *just look at the Star Lord casting craze that happened just a couple months ago. It was legit a mad house!*.

I mean, is this the most asinine thing I've read in a awhile, or what? You're making a film, not putting on a show. Good thing the whole thing is complete and utter nonsense, or I might really get myself worked up.

 

The BS meter has been shattered on this one. Why would they cast a singer who has no acting experience for a major role in they're most important movie right now?

 

I fully expect a One Direction rumor before too long.

 

Provided there's any truth to this rumor at all, I'll chalk it up there with the 'N Sync rumors from Episode II. Two of those guys were extras in that movie, but once the media heard they were involved, suddenly it became a big deal and they were major characters. In the end, you could only see them in maybe two shots. As far as Florence Welch goes, she might be a singer in a cantina or bar that we visit in the movie, but that's it. She'll probably be the Sy Snootles of Episode VII if she's even in it to begin with.

 

I remember when Robbie Williams was rumoured to be Anakin. This is BS people.

You know, when I first heard the Leonardo DiCaprio in 2000 or 2001 I thought....



Though after seeing Hayden Christensen in Ep 2 and 3, the DiCaprio in movies like The Departed, then if someone had asked me wasn't it much better that we didn't get Leonardo?

 

I don't know where Britain is in the GFFA, but I think he means a Core World accent.
