No, but that's often cited as an issue with the writers.

What are you even talking about? As you can see from the bolded portions above, Nelson is specifically talking about ignoring fan feedback. Quite apart from the fact that a writer, producer and director do not = a "committee" in any useful definition of that word, Nelson is not even talking about professional "committees" working together to hammer out a script and finished film. She's explaining her opinions as to why fan feedback is detrimental to the creative process.

She does not need these, the 2009 WW animated origin movie has very good plot, beside Hade's appearance and Ares' power.

Tim Burton was proud of himself for not reading the comic of Batman but his Batman movies are fine.

Burton's Batfilms are trashy and garish and show little respect for or understanding of the character or his milieu.

The WW writers/directors/producers need to be fans of the character, IMO.

I think Burton's films maybe aren't liked by comic fans, but it's fine to the general audience.

As for WW, did you watch the 2009 film? It's exactly what a WW origin movie should be.

For years, as a Batfan from the time I was in diapers, I allowed myself to enjoy Burton's rubbery, sparkly, oozing weirdness. I still think the 1989 film gets it pretty close to right in some regards, and the 1992 film has beautiful art design. But after BB over-wrote and surpassed by a factor of 1000 the achievements of the Burton run, I can't watch that freak-show anymore without cringing, esp. Returns.

Yes, I've seen the 2009 animated WW movie. I like the story but I found the execution lacking. The script is pretentious, a teenager's idea of how adults talk when they're alone together, all faux-sexy and quasi-profane. Not appropriate for Wonder Woman, IMO.

Because it was old and the Nolan Trilogy, it has nothing to do with Burton's knowledge of the comics.

The 2009 movie is good enough, the plot is much better than 50% of the DC live action movie, the script is fine for a blockbuster movie.

Disagree, disagree and disagree. Burton didn't mishandle the character because the films are "old"*, but because he didn't understand or appreciate the source material. The original Sam Hamm script is a weency bit more comics- accurate than the finished film, and if Burton had truly grasped the characters or picked up a single Starlin or O'Neil-written comic book, he might have shaped the material a little better and produced a more Batman-like Batfilm.

And sorry, but IMHO the animated WW movie stinks. She is far more accurately and respectfully presented in the various JL animated films than in the foul-mouthed, eye-rolling, would-be "cool" 2009 movie.

*BTW, I was 19 in 1989 and had been waiting for a DC-accurate Batman movie since it was first announced (in pre-production, of course) in the early 80s. With such films as The Terminator, Aliens, Robocop and the first two Superman films clearly demonstrating that an intelligent, exciting Batman movie could be made, chalking up the Burton films' shortcomings to their age is ignoring the facts, I think.

He didn't need to understand, he was making his own Gotham and Batman, he made it damn clear.

Too bad that's not how the review thinks

In most of the JL series and movies she was just a supporting character, S&B are the major figures.

The video review also give it positive comment for it has enough fights and get into the conflict between the two genders and didn't blame just one side for it.

That movie was incredibly painful to watch. They were trying really hard to emphasize the feminist aspects of the character, but did so by turning Steve Trevor into a massive pig and would-be date rapist(!) rather than by making Wonder Woman a good character in her own right. Consequently all you're left asking is why the hell she would ever date this utter ***hole, to which the answer is "Shut up we're out of time." But at least she hit stuff?

It's just my opinion. No big deal that we disagree. I'm glad someone can find something of value in the animated 2009 WW movie. And as I've said I used to enjoy the Burton Batflicks, so I know where you're coming from, it's simply that I personally can no longer enjoy them.

Yeah, turning Trevor into a chauvanist douche is the male-character equivalent of turning Lois Lane into a sleazy bar-slut or something. We get it, movie: men are dogs and WW is awesome. Let's try subtlety next time, shall we? -- and not at the expense of mangling a decades-old character's reputation, hmmmmm?

It does not have to please you or me, it has to please the general audience that's all. And it did both on reception and sales for a direct to video.

I'm sure people thought the same think of some of Marvel's superheroes before they became blockbusters on the big screen (Iron Man, X-Men, Avengers, etc.,)

The fact that Thor was successful as a stand alone movie proves you can do good superhero movies about mythological heroes.

I'd probably drop the preachy feminism from the movie. The modern world we live in right now has no massive problem with the idea of women in power so there is no point in really hammering that in. The audience will get it, she's a woman, she gets stuff done. Military people like Trevor shouldn't be hassling her because she's a woman, but rather because 'you've got super powers and could kills us all and you come from an island full of people just like you with powers and weapons we have no knowledge of'

It didn't hammer that in, it also question about the way of Amazon, WW and Steve also worked together in the end to stop Ares' plan.

It did have Trevor at least call her out on the bull crap, but why is an Amazon princess immediately arguing 'just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I can't do...' she doesn't have anything to prove, she hasn't lived in mans world so why is she trying to prove herself to men like she knows they don't trust her because she's a woman. Her reaction should just be 'I'm a woman... what's your point?'

But she always naturally assumes everything Trevor does is 'because I'm a woman'.

Because that's what she was taught on the island, the Amazon dislike men and defeated Ares, a god before, they thought the men all have prejudice on them. That was her flaw and she did change through the story, which is reasonable character development. That's what needed in an origin story, even a superhero doesn't start all awesome.

Hi, I can read. I don't feel like the "we can't do it by committee" portion was specifically talking about fans -- but in general, because she's talking about being "honed by storytellers across each medium ... trust ... freedom ... latitude," etc. But then that's exactly what they didn't do on Man of Steel. They had a storyteller and they gave him neither freedom nor trust nor latitude, by giving him Nolan as a Godfather. Granted, he still got his way in some aspects, but it's not entirely his film...

As I already said: very few, if any, films belong solely to the director. The shot of Spock's coffin on ST 2, for example, went into the film with Nick Meyer himself kicking and screaming all the way against it, and thirty odd years later he still says Spock should have remained dead.

Challenging the current fad of xenophobia in the West could be an interesting undercurrent to have in a WW movie, I.e. challenging the assumption that the alien, the outsider, is out to kill us all. It would dovetail nicely with those themes in Superman.

Feminism is not out of time. Preachy feminism, which was GenAntilles' phrase, is--at least in the West. In some cases said preachy feminism borders on or descends right into misandry; google up phrases like "womyn" or indeed the "Agent Orange" files in connection with the concept and you'll see how ugly it can get. Which is not to say that misogyny is any nicer, but Superman or indeed Batman traditionally don't hit the gender-justification button anywhere near as hard or as overt as Wonder Woman is sometimes portrayed as doing.

What I mentioned is not like that, the animated movie clearly preferred both gender should put away misunderstanding and work together, there are also criticism against the Amazon's way of distrust and isolate them from men. I think it's exactly what a WW origin movie need.
