ST Will C-3PO be de-activated at the end of the ST?

There are two things that make me think he might be:

1)It would round off his story pretty well, considering he was activated in Episode I
2)Anthony Daniels won't be around forever to lend his unique voice (if not also his full body) to the character. The End of this saga story would be the perfect opportunity to write C-3PO out so that there won't be a need to replace Daniels in the future.

What do you think?

 

I never considered this before, but you've sold me on the idea. A fitting conclusion I think.

 

What a depressing thought. He should go out like Arnold in T2 and give us the thumbs up before he shuts down.

People talk a lot about the deaths of major humanoid characters, but rarely about characters like C3PO or R2.

It would be interesting.

 

Yeah and R2 is going to be turned into a drinks cooler...

 

This question is almost as pointless as, "will storm troopers be able to shoot straighter in the ST?"

I never thought about it before but actually it would be heartbreaking to see any droids go - either in a peaceful way like shutting down or violently aka getting destroyed.

3PO and R2 have to stay around to tell the story.

 

If Daniels gets too old, 3PO won't be featured anymore. Simple solution.

Why would he need to be de-activated at the end of the ST if that is the end of his story? Why not live happily ever after with whoever is alive at the end?

 

I'm dreading the day when Jim Henson can no longer work and they have to deactivate Kermit the Frog.

 

He wouldn't *need* to be, I just think it would be neat to see his entire "life" played out in the saga.

 

The last time we see C-3PO and R2D2 will be a sad day.

 

Kermit is just not the same nowadays. I mean I know other people can sound like C-3PO, like Richard Dawkins, but it just wouldn't be the same. Waah waah waah...

 

i think this is a nice idea....after some sort of apocalyptic slaughter R2 should be the last one standing, keeping the story inside his rusty innards for all time

That's like asking if The Force should be eliminated after the ST. Threepio IS Star Wars.

That's the reason? I'd like something a little more meaningful and not so... pointless.
