So, Sabine draws graffiti of what looks like a flying Embo head encased in an orange heart? And a Cad Bane missile?

Cad Bane and Embo would make for a kickass story arc. I know TCW/Rebels staff likes reusing OT aspects, so why not have a Bounty Hunter pursuit storyline with Boba, Embo, and Bane all going after the Rebels. Would be fun to see a masked Fett being tasked by Vader to do some dirty work. Maybe Boba could disintegrate one of the Rebels.

Maybe it's just because I've been watching the trailer since it was released today a dozen times but does anyone else think the Rebels in the show are sort of like Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy? They are a band of misfits with unique and different personalities some don't get along but they have to learn about each other and learn to work together and as time goes on they become a family that looks out for one another. I don't know just a thought.

I like her. And I like the graffiti artist angle, I hope they don't get too crazy with it though.

I do like how the graffiti artist thing is kind of "punk" or rebellious, so that fits within the overall vibe of everything.

So, another fun character, and only one crew member left.

So, can we assume that Hera is going to be an idealist, and the glue that holds the group together? Otherwise it's looking like a group of vigilantes!!

fett 4 Thankfully Ezra being human and the inquisitor being Pau'an makes that... improbable.

It looks suspiciously like the characters might, on occasion, enjoy themselves.

    I find this pleasing.

I'm not sure that's particularly fair... The PT pretty much has to deconstruct characters from the OT in order to make them relatable - family connections and all. There clearly has to be a resemblance (in terms of physical apperance and personality) between Luke/Leia, Anakin and Padme... but, for example, I'd say Anakin is different enough from Luke to be quite a distinct character. Same applies, but to a lesser degree, for Padme (IMHO). Again - same applies to Jango Fett - where Lucas clearly tries to create a 'character' where previously there was just a suit. I believe what were seeing here in Rebels is much more derivative. Everything they release seems to be even more cliched... We've got the roguish pirate/outlaw, we have the naive and callow youth (with untapped powers), the big and aggressive alien sidekick (but as opposed to ripping arms off he bangs heads together) and now we get the "feisty female" with a Mandalorians helmet.

Yes, and within the first few minutes they are sent far away from her to complete a mission.

Does Luke meeting Artoo or Threepeo on Tatooine mean he is tight with the Rebellion? No, it just means he runs into the droids.

You said, "this can only mean that this rag tag group will have close ties with the major players of the Alliance"

And I have shown that there are instances where meeting up with those two droids means nothing of the sort.

For all you know, just like Luke, meeting the droids will be their first introduction to the greater Rebellion. But the fact they will be in the show at some point in no way means there are already close ties. Or will ever be for that matter.

I love that little Embo with the heart around it, and Cad Bane's head blasting off.

So, Sabine ended up being pretty cool!!! I wasn't really expecting the graffiti/artist part of her character but it makes sense and it should be interesting seeing her deface all sorts of Imperial propaganda and establishments. Also the voice actor seems perfect for the role!

Kanan and Ezra seem extraordinarily dull when compared to some of the more recent character reveals! I'm glad they decided to show them in this order! Its totally building excitement!

Sabine is by far the worst concept in this promising series. A mandalorian woman, like Bo Katan was, never drawing graffitis or wearing pink outfit. Mandalorian warrior means (and equal to) burning villages, assassination, headhunting....not pinky Barbie outfit with teen mentality (more like insanity).
Why is it so necessary to destroy such a cult characteristics what most of the mandalorians have in the Star Wars universe? Take an example; Pre Vizsla or Bo Katan or Boba Fet. All those all-time favorite characters are the true mandalorians. A man with such a talent like Dave Filoni how can even accept this. A man like Dave Filoni, who created Bo Katan, one of the best famine Star Wars character ever. Why is it so important for the Disney to evolve the mandalorian characteristics into this?

Luke is Frodo and Ezra is Aladdin. Certainly related tropes, but different.

Ponder for a moment how differently the 'He doesn't like you - I don't like you either' encounter would play out if it involved the street raised petty thief Ezra instead of the idealistic and fresh off the farm Luke.

I am all for seeing a Sk8ter Grrl, Disneys Aladdin and Beast from X-Men take on the Empire.

Because Filoni is a medicore creative mind at best. He didn't create or write last Air Bender, and he obviously didn't create or write much of hte Clone Wars. He is a tech. guy. He is a guy who knows animation.

    *removed*

That being said, I don't hate the character. Just because Bo Katan was more of a "hard core" Mandalorian warrior doesn't mean ALL women Mandalorian's have to be, or that ALL Mandalorians are now going to waer pink and have a teen mentality.

Todd the Mod EDIT: It's fine to criticize a writer/creator/developer, but no outright bashing.

    Or..

....it could be a historical reference to the cultural underground movement in East Germany during the Cold War. The graffiti is symbolising the 'defiance of art' on the Berlin Wall.

This would depend on how Pau'an genes tend to segregate. If he had four kids with a human female, a classical Mendelian distribution would make that one human, one Pau'an and two crossbreeds ;).

There's a difference in adhering to a universal fictional character type... be it the 'wizard', the 'princess', the 'pirate' and a straight duplication of a character. To use your example, Frodo (whilst fulfilling the main narrative requirement) is quite different from Bilbo (The Hobbit). The former being a selfless hero, carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders... the latter being an accidental hero. I think they are quite differently conceived characters.

Saying that, yes I'd agree... much of this is speculation/gut feeling based on snippets... if Ezra is nothing like Luke then it ain't a problem. But from what I've seen thus far, the main characters in Rebels aren't so much based on archetypal fictional characters ( I don't have a problem with that), but rather they DO seem based on 'existing' characters within the Star Wars universe - which I think is a completely different kettle of fish (IMO anyways). :)

Wow, I was not expecting the graffiti part of Sabine, but I like it! it was kind of hinted at, since what looks like rust or tarnish on her armor is actually flecks of paint. The VA feels good, and fits the character well. I'm getting a very 90's skater culture feel from her, anyone agree? It's weird to see in Star Wars, but I feel like they can pull it off.

One thing I definitely like is that she's a subversion of the generic warrior Mandalorian. Instead of the no-nonsense "strong female character" that would be the easy way out in this situation, they decided to turn the concept on it's head and make her into a more cheerful, feisty character. Y'know, like a girl you might meet in real life, without the blowing stuff up?

All-in-all, I'm looking forward to seeing her. So far, non of the characters have seemed uninteresting to me, except maybe for Kannan. But that's only cause they made him sound kind of generic in his reveal video.

(Also, are they going to say she created the insignia? I hope not, since I wanted the Ghost crew to be a single resistance cell in the larger Rebellion, answering to a higher up in the hierarchy.)

...and the pink outfit symbolizes what?
The show looks great, but the mandalors have some serious characteristics in the Star Wars universe. I don’t mind if the show use such a teen character, there could be pink outfit, room full with grafitis, I don’t mind. But do not call it mandalorian warrior, if she/he is obviously not. This is Disney attitude. Let’s take Bo Katan, but she is way too hard to be in this mainly kid friendly show, therefore we have to slightly alter her look…be pink instead of green/black/blue etc. because the teen girls will share common love by those outfits. Bo Katan is a killing machine, hard famine character, not so good for this show, instead be Sabine a freelancer graphite artist. Bo Katan lives her life in the outer rim, not so good, Sabine has her owen room full with posters and of course, lot of gratifies on the wall! That kind of mandalorian woman will be absolutely compatible with the prievous Disney products! A little Star Wars, because she is a so called mandalorian (shut up Star Wars fans, you got a mandalorian warrior!), and more like a Disney product for the mass, because the cheaper is the better! If you follow this way, we will make tons of money…who cares about the Star Wars mythology. Disney decided on, this is how a mandalorian warrior looks like.

Vorennaal, she's not a Mandalorian warrior because she wears pink? Mia Mesharad, Contessa, and Circular Logic, as well as myself, are all into Mandalorian culture at varying levels, and I think all four of us (though I don't recall seeing Circular Logic's opinion of her yet) would disagree with you. Mandalore is a planet full of all different kinds of people; Sabine would fit right in. How is it a "Disney attitude" here? I'm confused. Pink + graffiti = Disney? Oh, and as to Bo-Katan being a killing machine whereas Sabine is a "freelancer graphite artist," did you not see the part where Sabine is the weapons expert, and specializes in explosives? Yeah, remember that? Some people can't be pleased, I guess.
