I got the Dark Times omnibus on Friday and I haven't started reading it yet, but I've flipped through a bit and I've been recalling the later arcs I read (I haven't read Fire Eater yet, so that should tell you how far I've gotten). My question is this: why is Vader obsessed with Dass Jennir? Is it ever said in the series? He seems consumed with killing Dass specifically. Spoiler Even when he struck down Kai Hudorra, he still asked him where Jennir was and merely said "he will share your fate." It was like Kai was insignificant to him unless he had Jennir. Why is this?
Oh, really? But I just mean it seems he was gunning directly for Dass, similar to the way he did with Jax Pavan because Jax had his pyronium. What did Dass do that made Vader search for him directly?
Jennir is a known suvivor; Vader can freak out about his continued existence more than about, say, Plo "we didn't see the body" Koon since there's no solid suspicion that Koon survived. Jennir, on the other hand, has slipped away from Vader's grip a few times now; that's one loose end to obsess about.
Kinda hard to survive when your flamming fighter smashes into a building with yourself trapped inside.
What Grey1 said; Jennir successfully evaded Vader a couple of times, and that is a good reason for Vader to have a special interest in him. IMO, during the early days of the Empire/Vader, after Obi-Wan and maybe Yoda, Jennir is on the top of Vaders "to kill" list.
Just like being shot by heavy artillery and falling down hundreds of feet into a sinkhole entangled in your mount. Or, you know, burning on the shore of a lava river.
And somehow a Sith apprentice survives being sliced in half, falling down a shaft and spending the next 12 years remaining undetected by the most powerful Sith Lord in the entire galaxy at that time?
I'd say Vader's "to kill" list goes like this: Obi-Wan Jax Pavan Dass Jennir Everyone Else Vader never really seemed to care too much about Yoda; I don't even know if Sidious ever told him about fighting him (though he probably did). Even so, he had personal reasons for hunting Obi-Wan and Jax so they topped the list, followed by Dass for escaping him more than once, and Everyone Else for still existing.
I guess he surmise Yoda was either dead or not worth his time. Maybe a little bit of column a and a little bit of column b.
He did hit the treadmill for a while. Then he was like, "Oh." Also, the answer to this question is something along the lines of "Because: Dat Dass", I'd assume.
You have me morbidly curious. Must. Resist. Typing. *Considers potential results* Aaaaand, I'm over it.
