Someone did a small comic where Cthulhu was woken . . to open a pickle jar. It was funny and cute but I can't find it.

this afternoon Obama was spotted in our village going to The Hague after visiting Amsterdam and the Rijksmuseum. In the museum he was giving a press-conference in front of the Nachtwacht (Nightwatch)

I shook Al Gore's hand in 1992. I also saw him at a campaign event in 2000.

What's wrong with being sexy? ;)

That's neat, earlybird-obi-wan! We saw Queen Elizabeth at Woodbine racetrack in Toronto a few years ago. She did the trophy presentation for the Queen's Plate horse race.

I don't need Cthulhu to open my pickle jars. In fact, I open pickle jars for other people. Got a good grip and terrific torque, even though my long monkey arms are stick-thin.

As for @Findswoman's dream... Perhaps I should supply you with a photo for future reference. XD

Findswoman I cheat to get tags to work.

The Mass Effect series has Lovecraftian influences...some pretty big ones...

I feel like I need a monocle to read the Diversity thread now, so I went onto Amazon and looked up monocles. Very, very tempting to get one with a 2.0 diopter. Might help with my crappy right eye.

TrakNar, do you wear glasses already? My right eye is a bunch weaker than my left also, and so I basically only have a working lens on the right side of my glasses. The left-hand one is just a piece of glass.

I wear glasses, though both eyes aren't that great. My right eye is the worst of the two, as the right lens is much stronger than the left, and when I first got glasses, the left lens was just a piece of glass with very, very slight magnification. It's stronger now, but not as strong as my right lens.

You can get monocles that rest on the nose like glasses do. I'm quite tempted by them but both my eyes are bad.

My right eye is the better of the two, but not by much. Ironic, since due to lazy-eye I'm left eye dominant and have to, for example, shoot left-handed and read with my left eye.

Guess that makes me a liberal. ;)

Isn't one's dominant eye often the opposite of one's dominant hand (as are dominant feet)?

My dominant eye is my left, as my right is lazy and atrophied. I catch and throw right-handed, which made things awkward in softball since I used a left-hander's glove. I got quite good at ripping the glove off and throwing.

I have no clue what my dominant eye is, all I know is I have a -2.75 in my left eye and a -3 in my right. Whatever that means.

Easiest way to tell which eye is your dominant:

Focus on an object in front of you. Cover one eye and then cover the other. Your dominant eye will have continued to focus on the object when the other eye is covered, whereas your lesser eye will have moved to focus on it.

I focused on the knobs to my pie safe, which is across the room. Maybe six feet away.

Both my eyes are pretty bad, but my left eye is far more dominant, which comes as no surprise because it is the left side of my brain that has way more damage, so the right side of my body is gimpier.

I finally finished those dumb footnotes! Huzzah. Now onto my Soviet History paper.

I've done eight sketches so far of an arm pointed at the camera at an odd angle. Drawing the musculature wasn't helping, so I started drawing the bones.

Them bones, them bones, they're hard to draw~

My "dominant eye" shifts to whichever one has a better angle on delicious looking food. This had actually been proven when I was doing some pre-experiment examinations for testing out some metabolism altering medication meant for weight loss. They found this out when I was doing the dominant eye test and something happened that caused my eye to immediately shift shortly after they were about to write down the result. They at first thought that movement had initially triggered the refocusing on my eye, but when they tried it with just an empty hand, or a pen, or a abnoxiously colored post-it note, no reaction. A kit-kat bar however, and then a bag of Doritos triggered the shift when they tried those. My occular center apparently, places a high priority on food regardless of what the rest of the brain is thinking.

I also learned from this experience just how not-serious scientists actually are during experiments that don't readily present safety hazards.

From what I've been able to determine, a lot of scientists love their jobs because of all the fun they have. Of course, different scientists will derive pleasure from different means...
