Possibly. I think they might reserve the temptations of the Dark Side for whoever ends up being the main character though, like how that was Anakin's issue in the PT and Luke's in the OT. If Boyega is Luke's apprentice, they may have him undergo that temptation while he's on his journey to become a Jedi Knight. Or they could have Daisy's character undergo it to continue the ongoing struggle that the Skywalker lineage has with the Dark Side.

Yep. I'm willing to bet the rent money on this one. She's a Solo.

She's almost definitely a Solo, but I could see her being Luke's daughter too. I think it'd be safer for me to say that I'd be shocked if her character didn't have the Skywalker genes.

She looks too much like a younger Natalie Portman and Carrie Fisher for there NOT to be a connection. And she was sitting in-between Carrie and Harrison Ford in the cast photo. As to whether she'll be the main character, I hope that she is. A female main protagonist would be a nice change of pace.

wouldn't it be funny if the red wig was for her?

That's what I'm hoping for. I'll be fine if Boyega is the main protagonist too, but I've really been hoping for a female main protagonist ever since this trilogy was announced. :)

That would be interesting! A Mara Jade-esque daughter?

If she's a Solo, and come on, she HAS to be, then she will be the most awesome character. Just imagine someone with the best traits of both Han and Leia? She's going to be amazing. I can't wait to see her in action :)

As far as I'm concerned, red wig = tinfoil hat. If TPTB wanted a red-headed female in this story, they would simply hire a red-headed actress or else, you know, just dye her hair. It's cheap, it's effective, and it looks a million times better on camera that making an actress wear a wig.

But I'm sure the ghosts of Mara and Ben will be floating around these forums for a long time yet.

A red wig looks a million times more natural than dying someone's hair red.

The infamous red wig will more than likely be used on some random person in a crowd scene, I don't think it holds any significance at all.

You think they shaved an actress' head on a completely different movie a few months ago, saved the hair to turn into a wig, only to use it for a random person in a crowd scene? Really? Does anyone really believe that?

And this statement is based on what? You're extensive knowledge of professional hair dye and wigs? Have you ever dyed your hair or worn a wig? As a woman, I've done both, and I can tell you that dyeing one's hair -- as long as it's done well and you know the budget for this movie is top-drawer -- looks much more natural than wearing a wig.

Red wig = red herring. It's not even worth wasting my time discussing it. But like I said, the ghosts of Mara and Ben are going to be very hard to kill.

No, but the point is her head wasn't shaved just for the purpose of making a wig for episode 7, the movie she's working on required it, and someone probably thought they'd save the hair rather than throwing it away. I still don't think it's necessarily significant.

Well, I was in management at L'Oreal and have seen some pretty well done dye jobs. Having said that, I have seen plenty of movies where an actress dyes her hair red. It does not look as natural as a wig made of actual red human hair.

right. My point is why would anyone even think to save it for episode vii. That would seem pretty random unless saved for a specific reason.

Assuming intent is a very human thing to do, but that doesn't make it correct. The wig business was just some throwaway joke. Let it slide. Besides, if they were truly going to use a wig for a main character in a big production like this, it's not going to suffice with just one, they will need at least a few wigs to change between.

Fair enough. Given the budget for this film and the level of talent they'll have in the make-up department, we can probably agree they could make either option, dye or wig, look good. I just personally don't think the red wig means anything.

But since this thread is supposed to be about Daisy and her character, I will re-iterate: I am willing to bet the rent money, the grocery money, and any other money I can scrounge up on the bet that she plays a Solo.

Something else I want to see: a scene where Han or Leia (or both) tells their daughter "I love you" and she comes back with "I know."

If Daisy's character isn't from the same genes as Padmé/Leia, I'll kiss a Wookie and dance nude with the Ewoks. For your sakes she better be. ;)

    V THIS V All of it! ^:)^

Now, I'm actually going to get a little upset if they don't use "I know" somewhere in the film.

I agree. I think she's a Solo. I hope they write her as feisty as her parents

I really wish the rumours about her being the Luke rather than the Padme of this trilogy are true. That's one way they can have this trilogy rhyme with the previous two and still feel kinda fresh, she comes from a mostly functional family, possibly slightly coddled, rather than another orphan. And have her be a Jedi.

I think she will be. Actually, I'm leaning towards her being the only new character who is a Solo/Skywalker. I think she'll be Han and Leia's only child and that Luke won't have any.

I love the idea of her saying the "I know" line to one or both of her parents, but I'd only want it thrown in there if it feels natural. Sometimes really good ideas like that come off as unneeded fan service, rather than being a really smart callback to earlier moments in the series.

This, most definitely. And I'd love it if she's more like her father. You know, a little rough round the edges. But with her mother's smart mouth thrown in for good measure.

I can already hear the banter between her and her parents.

This movie is gonna be great.
