Yeah, filming is soon, but who knows when each actor will begin filming. Domenhall was cast the day before the table read, so it's safe to say that either he won't be a big factor, or if he is, he won't be doing any lightsaber fighting, since there's no way he'd have the time to learn the choreography.

I could see some of the first shots just being some model work, long shots, etc. It might not be for a few weeks that they start filming the meat of the movie. I'm very curious as who will start filming too. They could film scenes between just the villains for a month or two! I haven't been this excited to see a film together since I was around six and Harry Potter 1 came out!

He looks quite different in that video than he does say here:

He didn't exactly look like admiral akbar after, but he certainly looked different. I think the difference was partially overlooked because of the long gap between film releases and people assuming it was just age.

I guess I just don't see this radical change. I see Mark with very light blonde, very 70s era hair, and perhaps a thinner in the face than usual during the Star Wars era. But I think Mark's look in ANH is an anomaly, not the norm. Because look at this clip shot years before Star Wars:

    The man in this clip:

Looks more like Mark as he appeared after ANH than how Luke looks in that film.

In the winter of 1977, Mark Hamill was in a serious car accident that left him in need of reconstructive facial surgery. Many believe that the wampa attack on Skywalker was included in the film to explain Hamill's residual scarring and slightly altered facial features.[3]

In January 11,1977, a day before he was set to shoot one of the final scenes needed forStar Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Hamill was involved in a car accident that caused substantial damage to his face. A double was used for the scene of Luke racing across the desert in his landspeeder while Mark was hospitalized. Supposedly, he was told by his surgeons that although facial reconstruction surgery could save his career in the short term, it would have only temporary results. Over time, the scarring would become increasingly visible, and he would have to rethink his acting career.
In an A&E Network Biography special, "Mark Hamill: A Force to Be Reckoned With," the auto accident and its consequences are recounted by Mark's family.
As a result of this scarring, Hamill wore an extensive amount of facial makeup when he reprised his role as Luke forThe Star Wars Holiday Special, which was released in 1978. An in-universe explanation for his scarring was developed for Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back where he is mauled by a Wampa, which seemed to be a pretty good way to many to allow him to continue, even with the scar.

And this is what I'm talking about. All this hearsay and contradiction.

Mark has "substantial damage" done to his face in 1976 (or now apparently early 1977).
Yet is available, sans any facial scars, to do press and interviews for Star Wars.
And shoot Corvette Summer in 1977.
Yet in 1978, nearly two years after the accident, he suddenly develops scars so badly that he needs "extensive amounts of facial makeup" in the Holiday Special...
Yet doesn't need the same "extensive amounts of facial make up" for Empire, Jedi, or any other non-SW films he shot for the rest of his career.

Mark apparently had the kind of substantial damage that heals super fast and only acts up for Holiday specials starring Bea Arthur.

Which was never in dispute. Ever.

I said that the extent of Mark's facial damage is largely overstated.

Nobody said that Mark wasn't in an accident.
Nobody said that Mark didn't have any kind of work done to his face.

But the popular myth suggests that Mark's face was basically destroyed and rebuilt from scratch. Mark Hamill himself never said such a thing, and all the evidence surround his shooting schedules for various films, interviews, etc in the late 70s don't support this idea that he had some massive damage done to his face, particularly when you note that Mark's look after Star Wars was shot is pretty consistent with Mark's look before Star Wars.

People who get into car accidents and have substantial damage requiring major, extensive plastic surgery aren't out on the interview circuit four months later, sans scars.

my only point was if you have face damage and you get old your face can sag. he doesn't look like quasimodo or anything so i think he's ok.

From what Drew form Hitfix has said, only Boyega/Driver have extensive sword fighting scenes in this movie.

Wow!! Some people are really negative and shallow! unbelievable. Try to remember Episode VII takes place 30 YEARS after VI! Luke is an old man! I expect nothing short of greatness from Mark Hamill, i'm stoked to see him back!

So far Ridley is also in training as well, so we'll see. I can't wait to see what they come up with for choreography too!

As I said, the only people that have significant sword fighting scenes are those two from reports. She could be doing stunt work or long scene rehearsals from the quote from her dad.

I think "reports" this early mean basically jack crap.

We won't have any idea who does what until December 2015.

yes little surprised he shaved the beard and is stateside. I had the idea Hamill was gonna live in England for like the year and fully prepare himself for the biggest thing hes been involved since thhe first go round.

Please stop worrying about the lack of beard and the fact he is currently stateside. It's a plane ride back to the UK and we don't know his shooting schedule.
