ST TMZ has a BUNCH of set pictures up.

How do we know that The Falcon isn't 100% built by now? These pics could be from weeks, even months ago. It makes me feel like whoever leaked these Falcon pics had been sitting on them for a while, and was waiting for something else to leak out of the production, before they leaked their pics, in order to cover their tracks.

Or it could very well be from the exact same source.

Yes, I would hope that it would leak soon enough. I was listening to a reputable SW podcast who claimed that the Arndt draft was beginning to make the rounds throughout fan circles and that soon it will be leaked to the general public. Only time will tell.

 

I think you're right... I think the media, in particular, like to build something up and then knock it down. It's pretty hard to do that with the OT because they are as ingrained now in popular culture as The Wizard of Oz, Charlie Chaplin and The Beatles... Without doubt, if Ep VII isn't deemed a 'spectacular' movie, the media will snipe and sneer at it regardless of its merits. I can just see all the headlines being lined up about 'geriatric SW' and lens flare etc. etc.

In terms of the pics we're discussing here... although they don't reveal much in terms of plot/character etc. I'm actually quite heartened by them because they are as reminiscent of the PT and TCW than they are of the OT (IMO)... and I think (and have always thought) that's the best way to go... i.e. look at it 'in the round' and take the good elements from both trilogies.

 

Faster AND more intense. GL would be proud.

Well, there were no ships featured often enough in the PT as big as the MF that justified constructing them on set. But Jedi Starfighters and speeders were constructed and you can see them with a quick google search. And obviously there were some full scale podracers built for TPM.

Agreed, the GG (Gamorrean God) model must have been constructed back when these were taken. Then it was moved to the shoot in Abu-Dabi.

The fact that the Falcon was constructed, possibly at the same time could lead one to think it may also be involved in the Tatooine shooting

 

Unless they're shooting the GG in the Pinewood stuff as well?

Personally, I hope the Arndt draft doesn't leak - I think that would be a nightmare for everyone involved.

Having seen the making of DVD extras several times, I'm well aware. I was being sarcastic. The point is that these similarities do not invalidate the opinions of the writers who are currently trouncing the PT. Maybe, just maybe, they have no agenda and just objectively thought the PT was bad.

 

I want the first photo of the big 3 to either be in the cockpit of the falcon or on the boarding ramp...

Now this is the kind of thing that interests me... Will we get to see new X-Wings in the battleship grey of Tie Fighters? That would be intriguing IMO. Or is this shot pre-rendering of traditional colours?

 

That shot looks to me to be mid-construction. I can't even work out if the guns are finished or templates at this stage. I imagine they will be more traditionally painted once they're finished.

 

I'd say it just before paintwork.

The only real difference between this & an X-Wing is a shorter nose section & 1 large engine on the side rather than 2 smaller ones.
