ST Daisy Ridley (Rey) in Episode VII

I particularly like the last two, and I don't think I've seen the very last one before. I don't suppose you know what programme it's from?

Wow thanks! I should've recognised those pics from the few seconds I'd seen of her in that before. The video features the famous (infamous?) Trellick Tower which is only a stone's throw from her native Maida Vale.

 

Funny. Ridley is the one with the least previous roles but still, her thread has the most pics and videos from previous roles. Not that I'm complaining, she looks like a godess and plays her roles very well.

 

I think its because while she maybe the most unknown, we also have the most clues about her role (both due to her looking like Padme and her setting next to Ford and Fisher, plus her fathers slip).. So its a big mystery some feel they can solve. Most of the others we just don't have enough to speculate about that we haven't already... Plus she and John now tweet so we have that going for their thread lengths.

The other threads will explode as soon as we have more info to speculate on each actor.

I also think that the reality is that she is an attractive young female and most posters are male, simple as that

 

Just wait until it's confirmed which character SHE'S playing!

 

Wait till she's confirmed as the first female lead in Star Wars to weild a lightsaber! The female fanbase will be praising the force that its finally happened in live-action star wars, the male fanbase will be wanting to date her.

 

I'm sure that's part of it, but as far as I can tell Daisy is very popular with the female fans as well. After all, I'm a (straight) girl and I really like her, too. Of course in my case a big part of it is that I'm expecting her to play a Solo.

So far, Daisy is leading kind of a charmed life in the Star Wars universe. She's beautiful, likeable, and by all accounts very talented. What's not to love?

Agreed. I may be a bloke but I'm interested in much more than her looks. I like her acting style, very natural...; also like you say she seems very likeable. Her and John are feeding us with tweets which can only be a good thing!

 

I'M glad there are at least 4 good female roles in this movie, especially Daisy.
maybe they will have more women in episode 7 with actually talking roles than the whole previous saga.

...or better yet, the first female lead in STAR WARS to wield a lightsaber AND to shoot first!

 

Jira, Zam Wessel, Lama Su, Sy Snootles, and maybe a female pilot in TPM

 

There was also that voiced over (by a male voice) female pilot in RotJ...

 

I meant human females. So you can add the female naboo fighter pilot.

 

Jira was human and Zam appeared human for most of her screen time.

 

As Han and Leia are my thing, I am drawn to Daisy because she looks like a sure bet to be their daughter, and therefore being a mix of those genes, the most awesome SW character ever . Plus of course the idea of a GIRL with a lightsaber is just too cool. Bring it on!!

And she just seems like a sweet girl, down to earth and very deserving of the success that this will ultimately bring her.

 

I agree with everyone's very valid points. I was just responding to why there are more pictures and videos in her thread than the others.

 

I guess more effort has been made to dig them up.

 

Let me assure you, though it wasn't always easy finding her past performances to make all the screencaptures, it more than paid off in that I got to see what an amazing actress she is(she has a TON of range). I know I've said it before, but I truly believe J.J. struck cinematic gold when he found her.

 

The day of having a damsel in distress is long gone, so why not have the 2 female leads be strong and are fully capable of defending themselves with a lightsaber. I think it would be fun to see Han being defended by his wife and daughter, i'm sure that would make Lando smile.

 

The latter part has already begun...
