H1N1 was a pretty big deal for like a month, and then by the fall, it was a mere annoyance when people came down with it.
Yeah, unless you actually know something about zoonotic infections and the way in which viruses deal with different species (or virology at all), take the tin-foil hat conspiracy theories elsewhere.
But, but... reading tin foil hat conspiracy theories is what I come here for I bet it was the lizard people, right? They're always up to no good.
Be interested to know, if you find it. Only because the one Red Dwarf episode where Lister is cutting off bits of limb to contain this thing, my memory is definitely having the sentient virus as related to Ebola. Okay, my bad. Ran "sentient virus" through TVTropes, and the Epideme virus of RD was an "intelligent artificial virus designed to block nicotine cravings." What can I say, my memory is ****.
If that was a deliberate pun, you gain respect. If not, my opinion of you as a heathen remains unchanged.
howso? i dont recall any sentient viruses in the bible, therefore they pretty much just fall under the "subordinate to man" designation of the natural world, right?
Sod that. Splice interlukin 4 into variola major, release at London Heathrow, Changi, and JFK airports.
I'm glad you noticed. Well just because something isn't mentioned in the bible doesn't preclude it from existing. I'd put any sentient being equal to man.
Congratulations, JC, we are now on every country in the world's list, if we weren't already. Well done!
what about a demon? and im not saying it means they dont exist, it just means they would fall under the umbrella of being subordinate to man and soulless, like the other animals
I don't even see how you could meaningfully ascribe consciousness to a disease that can only interact via a human host anyway.
There was actually a short-lived TV series called The Burning Zone, and its pilot episode sort of went for this. It posited the idea that out there was a "control virus", a sentient sort of "brain" virus in the way that ebola and other hardcore diseases were like the "arms" of one biological entity. Yes, it was very silly, but for those 40 minutes of television it sort-of worked.
Huh, interesting. Well in terms of human rights I'd give angels and demons the same legal rights. Sentience I've always seen as part of being made in the image of God so any being that is sentient would be equal with man and thus not subordinate. Of course that's just my personal theological views.
so the series antagonists were literally Jabbadabbado this summary reminds me of another childhood fave cancelled series: strange world
