Not sure if worldcraft actually have superlasers in those craters though. Does the Star Tours ship ever fire one?

What does it have on the various Star Destroyers/Dreadnaughts? Anything on Jerec's Ship the Vengeance or the Mandators? Oh and Novatroopers just for kicks!

We have lengths and crew numbers for Executor, Sovereign, and Eclipse classes.

And yes, it actually does mention Novatroopers. It mentions their unique armor patterns and specifies they're used for ceremonial occasions on Coruscant and the Palace, particularly the New Year's Fete Week celebrations.

It mentions the Sovereign and the Eclipse were in development. Typical stuff gets mentioned, superlaser and such. It did say that it was expected for the Sovereign-class to come on line first though. Then there is a bit on the Imperial-class, the Victory-class, and the Interdictor-class. Again all typical sourcebook stuff, nothing really new at all, disappointingly so. The Executor-class also got a section, though instead of using a picture of the Executor, they accidentally used one of the Assertor-class.

Very unfortunately, there are no mentions of the Mandator-class or any other PSF/Republic dreadnoughts or battlecruisers for that matter.

Oh man! I kind of want to buy this now? Does it have much new info, or is it just a new layout for old material that I could find on Wookieepeida? Don't want to make the same mistake I made with the Star Wars Encyclopedia to find it just regurgitated what I already knew?

Ohh Interdictor class? Is that the Imperial Star Destroyer like version or the the good old Immobilizer 418?

In my opinion, its worth having just for the art work and the layout, or if your just an Imperial fan. There is not a whole lot in the way of new information, just some things here and there.

It would be the good old 418 in this instance.

The Novatrooper info is like a paragraph or two, and not much more than I said. Aside from one-line things here and there, not much is new in this book. We knew most of all of it already. Like said above, it's for the art and the theming more than anything else. And the medal, if you're into that.

Speaking of the art, the grand admiral illustrated in the book doesn't look like any of the known grand admirals... do we have a fourteen Legends grand admiral? :D

I remember that Publius postulated somewhere that the promotion(?) of Rufaan Tigellinus to Grand Moff could have resulted in a new Grand Admiral being appointed to take his place, rather than Tigellinus holding both positions informally.

Alternatively, Wookieepedia mentions that Palpatine held meetings with a new batch of Grand Admirals on the Eclipse over Byss, and that they were presumably wiped out during the Dark Empire period. Unfortunately it doesn't provide a source, so maybe that's just fanon that managed to sneak in.

Edit: Actually, just looking at him, he looks a lot like Andal Sait but an image of a self-promoting traitor would be a damn weird thing to put in an official Imperial Handbook...

Ah, I remember that. It's from the Byss Planet Hoppers thing on WOTC's site -- thankfully still preserved due to archive.org. Here's the relevant text:

It says nothing about a new set of grand admirals, but given that we know what happened to all twelve of the grand admirals and given that none of them are associated with the Emperor Reborn on Byss, one possible explanation for this text is that the Emperor elevated a new set of grand admirals.

The simpler explanation would be that these meetings occurred before Endor, but the problem with that is that we know that the Eclipse didn't leave KDY for Byss until after Endor (DESB).

OOU, it's probably a mistake or oversight. But our standing orders under Legends was to find an explanation for everything, so the explanation would have to be new grand admirals.

edit: re: Tigellinus, it's less of a promotion and more of a... shift. Neither position is really superior to the other, they're just different and Who's Who explains it as Tigellinus realizing he preferred to administer systems than to protect them. It's another fix for what was probably just a SWAJ error, but alas.

Who's Who would've been a great chance to explain a replacement for Tigellinus, since Thrawn was supposed to be Zaarin's replacement in the old TIE Fighter chronology (but he had already been a grand admiral during his "secret promotion.")

Thanks for finding that for me, Jello. It's something that I've been wondering about since I saw it on the Wook. You'd think that the creation of an entirely new batch of Grand Admirals would be well-documented, but from the sound of the original text it's just an oversight related to the construction of the Eclipse. I suppose the original Grand Admirals could have just been meeting on the Eclipse II since that was under construction over Byss at the time.

I would say that the GA in that picture is just a more photo-realistic style image of Grunger, maybe with a bit more grey in his hair:

Since the original Grand Admirals were another attempt of the Emperor to tighten his control on the Imperial Navy, I wouldn't be surprised if he promoted a new cadre of officers to the rank during the Byss-years, either to provide military support/experience for his Dark Side Acolytes or to get some of them direct positions in the military hierarchy.

Alternatively what we consider to be a Grand Admiral's uniform is described to be "the white uniform of an imperial warlord" in some sources, so I wouldn't be surprised if those six warlords, who combined forces with the ERC to retake Coruscant (and others, who joined Palpatine again) wore those and were later elevated to the rank (to show, that they were back in the fold).

    This bit:

what I personally find most intriguing is part of Luke's comments on the back of the artifact registration sheet where he refers to the Empire as being on the defensive after the Rebel Alliance's win at Endor. This, coupled with text on the box that describes how members of the Rebel Alliance intercepted the manual in the wake of the Battle of Endor, points to the fact that the notes scribbled in the handbook represent the first post-Return of the Jedi canon that has been written since the reclassifying of the Expanded Universe as Legends!

I'm not sure about - I was under the impression that the whole book counts as Legendsverse.

Indeed -- it's been my phone wallpaper for some time now (finally, a "tall" image!). Fits very well with a black phone screen.

It's no Imperial Palace but it's a pleasant look nonetheless. Sadly the book itself doesn't explain what it actually is.

    Missa ab iPhona mea est.

Edit: I can't tell on my phone, what's the resolution on that? Looks like it's sharper than the one RebelScum posted before, in which case excellent. The only thing that bothered me before was how blurry it was.

my bold. How is 17.5 km unimaginable?
You know as the emperors personal flagship I expected at least some Naboo stile gardens, a trophy room, personal chambers and a thrown room.

The filename says it's some sort of imperial headquarter. Isn't the style at least slightly similar to the Republic military base from The Clone Wars?

    The resolution is 461px × 648px.

It also looks a lot like the Citadel on Dromund Kaas from SWTOR to me:

Yeah, I don't think it's accidental. SWTOR copied the real Empire so now it gets the reverse done to it.

    And darn, still low-res then.

I wouldn't be surprised if the reason that the Imperial Handbook is Legends is to avoid spoiling Rebels and the ST.
    NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
