ST Who's The Baddie?

This is how I feel about the villain of the ST being someone who found a Sith holocron and/or declared themselves a Sith.

 

@Qui-Riv-Brid, reception often varies. The Prequels were a success by fiscal standards, but the reception or measure of their quality by critics did cause GL grief. Fans may have favored the films and the gross is not to be ignored, any Star Wars film is bound to do well at the box office (I am referring to live action). But the critics were not too kind and GL expressed his disgruntled feelings.

 

To add to the theory I posted earlier, I think that Plagueis creating Palpatine would make the case for Plagueis stronger. The creator is the logical next step after the creation.

 

Not always Doctor Frankenstein creates his monster but he is not stronger. Still his death is always suspicious, I mean really no Sith Lord could be dumb enough to just take a nap right in front of his apprentice like that

 

Immortiss - ha - good catch on Ezra collecting helmets! Who knows - but that's the kind of fun deal I like when it comes to speculation.

We can't have the Black Knight as the villain because the Black Knight always triumphs!!!

 

jimjamjim, is this the cross-hilt saber you were talking about? That you said Driver was using to fight Boyega?

Not sure about the hilt, the design in good quality could work.

 

Yeah, I want to see it in action before I pass judgment on the "little light sabers". It could be really cool.

I don't have any idea - that is why I watch movies and not create them - but I have faith that Lucas was coming up with something new for Sequels (and assuming that Abrams was following those ideas).

And it is a safe bet that the Prequels will have very little bearing on the Sequels - beyond the legacy of Vader. The Prequel era have dominated Star Wars for nearly 15 years - Lucasfilm will focus on the Original era and new characters.

There will be connections but nothing so major as the villain.

And the Big Bads will be human. Alien villains will not rise above sidekicks.

 

I don't like the two mini sabers he has. I love the idea of a triple bladed lightsaber but I'd rather have all three blades be the same length.

 

What evidence have you that thinking the villain is brand new is somehow more wild speculation than the villain being Plageius?

 

Its not any more or any less wild speculation. Its simpy that Plaguies is speculation based on existing information, and brand new is speculation based on believing that is the direction they are taking with the production.

Neither side of this debate has enough info to outwardly discount the other.

 

What "existing information"? Rumours or the references to him in RotS?

 

That's what I was hoping for in the case of the rebels(new republic), That they would be fighting a new enemy not the Empire, like it looks like it 's going to be.

 

Nice looking villain. Obviously, his/her actual identity is going to play some kind of important role in the story, I guess...

As for the light-broadsword...well...it looks silly. Those little sabers would make the weapon terribly impractical (and dangerous to the wielder!) in most situations. No, not completely useless...just....not worth the trouble, really. But we'll see what they do with it, I guess...

Of course, I'm ASSUMING, for the moment, that the picture is legit. It could easily be a discarded concept, or a complete fake.

 

Well, Driver's character has been purported to be a collector of ancient Sith artifacts...

 

I must have missed a lot with the whole spoilers thing because the last bit of news I heard was floating hands in space, trying to find Luke etc

Agreed. It looks like it should be heavy & heaved around like a longsword.

Ancient Sith artifact? Yeah that's better. The "saber hilt" is kind of nuts though.
