ST Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

JJ may be taking the nostalgia a little too far dropping the episode number.

 

The official website, under the films section has it listed as "Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens." It is Episode VII, they just might not have settled on a title graphic yet.

 

Meh...bring on the teaser for more context

 

The more I think about it the more I believe that the episode number will be in the crawl, but it seems pretty apparent that marketing will not focus on the episode number a la the original trilogy. Whether that is a conscious decision to avoid bringing up the prequels in the mind of the general audience or an attempt to tap into nostalgia who can say. It's probably a bit of both.

 

Was the slumber induced by the PT??

Let the Force....Awaken! Can't wait!

 

It's...okay. Seriously, the title could be "Chewie takes a dump", but as long as the movie is good, I'm happy.

 

I can see the critics labelling it The Farce Awakens if the film really disappoints them. But now I have digested the title it does work for me more than on first impressions. Sounds quite spiritual

 

The 2nd season of Star Wars: Rebels will be called Star Wars: Rebels. Don't put Season 2 next to it. That's wrong!

 

The Force Awakens ??? Awakens from what, a 30 year Jedi power snooze?

FWIW- starwars.com still lists the movies by Episode #. Disney's just being cute.

 

It could also refer to that the last chronological episode came out 30+ years ago. A 30 year sleep.

 

I swear to god if that cyborg Luke crap is true....

 

I grew up with:

STAR WARS
THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
RETURN OF THE JEDI

We never called them Episode IV, V, or VI. That silliness didn't take hold until TPM. I like the omission, takes me back to classic days....before the dark times....before the prequels. I say bravo on you, JJ. Keep VII on the crawl and that's all.

If one doesn't know THE FORCE AWAKENS is Episode VII, they can go back under their rock.

 

How does it not make sense FFS? I get not liking it. Saying it makes no sense without any context is crazy. Sounds to me like we're going to see the Force and Luke taking things to another level.

It sounds like it backs up MSW's latest report. It says nothing to give any weight to cyborg Luke.

It may also refer to a villain or an army of evil.

I love it! And to all these people saying it looks like "Star The Force Awakens Wars," no it doesn't.

Am I the only one around here who thinks they aren't adhering to guidelines when titling these movies?

We get so stuck in "well ANH had this in the title, this movie has to have this...blah blah"

I didn't realize we were supposed to take movie titles literally.


I guess "Age of Ultron" is about how old Ultron is, according to star wars fans.

 

You better prepare yourself to say "before the dark times, before Disney" in the not so far future.

My fringe theory that George is doing this to vindicate himself is starting to look almost sensible now.
