    Teaser Trailer:

A figure dressed in tattered, dusty clothes recognizable as those worn by Luke Skywalker during most of ANH is shown from behind sitting on the edge of his bed, ruffling his messy hair with one hand, scratching his belly with the other. He can only be seen from behind. A yawn is heard, followed by the man slowly rising from the bed - the sound of popping joints and a low groan accompanies the action. He slowly shuffles away from the bed, heading towards the doorway of his bedroom into a small kitchen area. A glass containing blue liquid sits on a countertop. He walks through the galley and into a brightly-lit bathroom. The scene shifts to the man's eyes, squinting harshly at the glow of the room. Another groan. He lifts his hands up to his face and rubs his eyes. The scene pans back to reveal him staring at his face, which is now revealed to be a bearded, scruffy Mark Hamill.

He does the 'Home Alone'/Macauley Culkin bathroom mirror scream.

    THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Yes, it could mean going away from the Skywalkers and not fullfilling the family arc. :( Hope I'm wrong.

I don't think that it necessarily means that there are no other known Jedi. But I do thinks it do lend credence to the rumor that Luke is in some kind exile.

Kids just naturally enjoy things, while enthusiasts suck the fun out, chew it up, and regurgitate what's left. (said the enthusiast)

    It's a cool title.

Avengers is superhero crap. What do you expect from them? Nothing in those movies make sense.

Star Wars is supposed to be a level above that. Star Wars movie titles have meaning.

Don't know if it was already mentioned, but Eric Geller just had it confirmed that Episode VII will appear in the opening crawl.

This is something I don't understand at all. Seriously, how are people to this day still not grasping the basic, long since explained aesthetic that goes into these episode titles? The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are great titles for Star Wars films, perfectly in-line with the chaptered serials of the 1930s and 40s. One conveys a pulpy sinister element while the other is an on-the-nose action title, not an ounce different than The Empire Strikes Back.

Wasn't expecting a title like that.

Who knows - it could very well be changed from now till opening day (ie: 'Revenge of the Jedi').

I don't think its that bad though. Not a lot of "umph" in comparison to ESB or ROTJ titles - but a lot better than TPM or AOTC.

I'm kinda underwhelmed by the title, but whatever. It'll grow on me. Even "Attack of the Clones" I got used to after awhile.

In any event, I'm not gonna tear it apart. It's kinda silly to crap all over a title and say it "makes no sense" when we really have no idea what the movie is about. If it still makes no sense AFTER the film comes out, well, then…okay. But I'm keeping my mind open right now.

I never really thought about it too much before but upon reflection all the titles we've had so far primarily relate to the latter part or ending of the movies and so I imagine this one does too.

You mean in regards to the first film?

Thing is that actually was supposed to have an Episode or Chapter title be it 3, 4 or whatever but FOX didn't want it and it would have been confusing.

Doubtful. I don't think it really means a thing to anyone but fans who like to talk about it. The Episode numbers in the promotional didn't stop the general audience from going to the prequels and grossing billions of dollars in theatres, video, TV etc.

    Oh man, prequel bashing already.

Episodes I, II, III worked from a marketing perspective. I, II, and III are very strong marketable numbers. They clearly form a trilogy, and connect to the three act structure. VII, like the OT's IV, V, VI numbering, just isn't as marketable. Once the sequel trilogy is over, I can see VII, VIII, IX being utilized in marketing, but right now the title is best to put emphasis on.

I like it, it's interesting, but where is Episode VII?

I bet it refers to the Force itself becoming a character, perhaps voiced by James Earl Jones...

The meaning of which we don't yet know. How can one definitively say the title makes no sense when we haven't seen the movie, or know the full story? Perhaps it's referring to Luke returning to fight a new threat, maybe it's referring to the threat being awakened in force powers, who knows?

What kind of meaning The Phantom Menace had BEFORE watching the movie (even the trailers) ?

I like it. It fits when you see the titles from the other six in order. Also sounds like a "rebirth" of star wars to me. I mea it's better than Attack of the Clones.

Apart of me wonders if this is the kick off to marketing and everything else people were talking about.

11 pages (and counting) over something that is not an indication of the film's quality.

The force awakens is plain enough. The obvious implication being that it has been asleep. This isn't a sequel to KOTOR 2, so that just doesn't make sense. It would be like calling a film "the electrons in our Universe are awakening".

Eric from TFN is now saying on Twitter that "Episode VII" will be in the crawl for continuity. But it makes sense from a marketing standpoint to not have it in the official title. Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens is a lot.

Oh, ESB is a cheesy title too, don't get me wrong! I get the point that they're supposed to be cheesy like those serials. But intentionally cheesy is still cheesy. ;) The Force Awakens is even a step less cheesy than those three, in my opinion!
