You guys! With the reveal of the title, I feel that the release of the first teaser is imminent! I'll probably wet my pants if it turns out to be attached to Big Hero 6 (which comes out tomorrow), but I won't care.

There is also this TPM version found on some later toys:

And yeah, I'm sure we'll see a final logo, but as is it was a weak introduction. At least ROTS was revealed with the final logo.

Yes, but from what I heard, the final film follows George's story treatment very closely. At that point, he might as well be granted the naming rights.

think i like it.. immediately associated it with something along this line:

but i really hope the transcendental aspects are still limited, it has to be SW after all

I like the title. It's simple but suggests something powerful happening. I put it among the better SW titles...which I'd rank as follows:

    1. The Phantom Menace
    2. The Empire Strikes Back
    3. Revenge of the Sith
    4. The Force Awakens
    5. Return of the Jedi
    6. A New Hope
    7. Attack of the Clones

And we all know hot the TPM turned out. :p Titles don't necessary reflect the quality of the Film.

I'd say the FONT works quite well when arranged "properly"

You like "The Phantom Menace" as a title? How odd.

Technically speaking isn't "The Return of the Jedi", the Force Awakening?

Abrams and co have the opportunity to shake things up with this film, and it looks like they're going for it. You may say "'The Force Awakens'? Isn't it already balanced?" But consider this: the force, from I to VI, was greatly diminished. First, the once great Jedi Order became complacent and arrogant, essentially Pharisaical (see: Ahsoka's treatment, their blindness to Palpatine). Then the Sith struck a huge blow against force users, leaving only a handful remaining. The force is further diminished.

So, all stories thus far have dealt with a power that has been greatly diminished. Have we even seen the full potential of the force? The title suggests to me that the answer is no. What if it's only after "balance" was restored, i. e., the selfish consolidation of power was ended, that the force is finally truly unleashed, allowing it to expand both in power and in potential users?

Now that's a fine logo. The "THE" and the bars either side of it even resemble Maul's lightsaber.

Blasphemy. SW is going to the dogs under Abrams with his strange fonts. /jk

Return of the Jedi is the return/redemption of a specific person. Luke, Vader, The Emperor, Yoda all used the Force.

Thank god the whole Episodic number in the main title has been dropped and only will be seen in the opening crawl.

The Force Awakens is the sequel to Return of the Jedi.

That is all that needs to be known.

Nope, unfortunately you're missing the point. You're confusing optimism with 'undying positivity' and the fact evil prequel fans who hatez JJ seem to solely be the only ones who've brought that trilogy into a discussion about a title reveal for VII. Apart from the film itself, I'm looking forward to seeing the PT lovers vitriol about how VII compares with their beloved.

An anagram of The Force Awakens is ...

    Feathers. Cake. NOW!

So what is JJ hinting at with this subliminal message?

Remember everybody, you're only allowed to have a knee-jerk reaction if it is in positive support for the title. If you're not happy or sold on the title, you just need to calm down and let it sink in until you change your perception to the correct one...

I suspect they will have a better font style for the film title that will be marketed on the movie posters and other merchandise.
