Oh I'm not saying that stuff is true. Although, in context, its technically "suicide by Han."

But, I'm just saying you can still have Luke in the story either way.

    For want
For wanting to bring the "magic of the OT" back, Luke going bad or Han killing Luke (Eek) sounds like it'd be incredibly dark and sad. Although I would be down for that, I doubt that's what will happen. If anything, Luke should be redeemed if he goes bad.

man that would be a thing.....what if it all goes down as described, luke allows han to kill him, han shoots luke, and Luke doesn't die?

Luke's plan to finally release himself from torment is foiled, and maybe he sees that as a sign that the galaxy isn't finished with him yet and he has to help them against the new evil.

that's something i could get behind.

He did film some scenes post wrap party and post beard, which could be for the end of the movie once he's cleaned himself up....or y'know...his force ghost might be clean shaven....

also, I'm secretly in love with the idea of Luke being slightly mad, Joruus C'Baoth style, and it's almost entirely because of his work as the joker...the dude can be damn scary if it's played right, which it would be...it's mark.

Yeah, that part had better be BS, although it wouldn't be Han killing Luke as much as it would be Luke letting Han kill him....maybe he tries to let Han kill him and the Force powers that he cannot control kills Han instead...which is still a downer but Luke > Han as a character.

Sure this would be cool, but still hard to believe in the whole context. Luke always cared for Han and Leia and now easily without reason fights them.

i've just been thinking...if luke is hidden away and a crazy old hermit, and perceived to perhaps be bad, how are they going to handle the marketing? Are they going to just straight up say that Luke isn't what he once was and give us character stills of the disheveled worn down Luke? (which is what I want) They can't hide him from the marketing altogether, would they try to hide his true purpose and release still of a nice and neat Luke?

One thing I do hope for the promotional character stills, is that they were shot on set, and not on a grey backdrop like many of the PT ones. A shot of a bearded, worn down Luke in a ratty robe half hidden in shadow, sitting in that red and blue lit room from the concept art? I'd put that on my wall...

but he's not necessarily fighting han and leia. Luke supposedly sees that their son is evil and tries to kill him, Han is probably in denial and is trying to protect his son.

Both ways is not needed and a contradict to the original characters. If they don't see this and take it as a gut punch or whatever, I don't know what to say.

I never have a beard, but I'm unlucky enough that I have to shave every 5 days (it's in the family genes) otherwise I get a beard.
so I kill any chances of having an all consuming evil beard.;)

So starwars7news.com states that today was the actual last day of filming, and that Hamill was one of the actors who stayed on to keep filming, after shaving his beard:

Now I believe someone here was saying how certain or obvious it was that we'd never see Luke without a beard in The Force Awakens.

I recall the phrase "contractually obligated beard" being thrown around as some kind of strong evidence. I suppose now we can say he was "contractually obligated" to shave the beard too. ;)

I'm not arguing that Luke will be the cyborg, and I like recent rumors better, but I am pointing out how the previous logic thrown out was poor.

More than likely, this shave means that we'll see Jedi Master Luke back, as we know and love him.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THAT CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED BEARD? lol

if true that is exactly what both you and I have been saying for a while,
that the contractually obligated beard means nothing.;)

P.S The Beard is Evil or symbolizes Luke being unstable.:p

I told you, he's not evil. You will think he might be evil for much of the film but he isn't.

Are you kidding... apparently a lot of people will be sitting in the cinema overwhelmed with thinking only on how they don't understand the production company's title choices. :p

I never bought that Luke would be evil for evil's sake. I'm presuming Luke is isolated from his family and friends (unlike Anakin he has a sister/family (leia) and a best friend (han - and not the jedi master-padawan relationship but a real friendship) because of the burden he carries on his shoulders through no fault of his own (genetics) and that's incredibly heartbreaking. And maybe Luke does have his own family too but that's been destroyed due to his circumstances. But, in the end, he will triumph and be the hero once again.

These new rumors are absolutely intriguing. If written well, the whole Luke letting Han kill him thing could be incredible albeit heart-wrenching to see. Perhaps there's a moment in the story where the both of them realize that the conflict can only be settled if Luke is killed - they agree that it must be done, they share a moment, then Han pulls out his dual blasters and ends it all.

One thing that bugs me though...isn't Driver's character supposed to be the "Vader" of this new trilogy? If he gets killed by Luke in VII, then I guess we deal with someone else in the next two movies? So many more questions!

I don't believe that Luke will be killed. He has to survive and get his sh** together by the end of Ep. VII so he can train new jedi (Daisy and Boyega) and defeat the new villain(s) in Ep. VIII-IX.
