I'm amused that the banner references some moderately obscure ships: Sugi jealously looking at Obi-Wan and Bo-Katan. Anakin jealously looking at Obi-Wan and Padme.

And, most importantly, some Muun---Mak Plain?---jealously looking at Anakin jealously looking at Obi-Wan and Padme.

I miss the Otter love but a reminder that Obi-Wan is a playboy works.

So I got the SO a Harley Quinn - related gift, and thought - briefly - that she's a somewhat worrisome person to relate to Valentine's Day.

But then again, she got me the Lego A-Wing with Ackbar that I mentioned wanting months ago, so there's that.

And speaking of Ackbar, the It's A Trap song by the Rifftones.

    Happy Valentine's Day to errrrrverybody!

For those of you who amuse me so often, I have so much affection and admiration for you.

And now to reference an old game I recently replayed and beat for the first time.

I love you. For 129 damage, apparently.

Watching Snow White "I'm Wishing" and I like how the Prince dude climbs a wall and takes over her song. TOOOOOODAAAAAYY.

Then he does it again in Sleeping Beauty (because they're the same guy), "the way you did once upon a dream".

Not really. One of the significant problems with Stewart was that his brand of "engagement" was worthless -- really, counterproductive.

A healthy political culture requires a certain level of mutual respect, a willingness to accept disagreement -- to accept that your father could think differently than you and not be an imbecile, that your neighbor could disagree without being a villain. But that respect has to go beyond just cutting slack to the people you know personally, to tolerate differing opinions in general even while vociferously disagreeing, to engage their arguments on their own basis rather than dismissing or delegitimizing everyone who doesn't agree with you as a fool, dupe, or malevolent enemy of humanity who can be vilified and ignored rather than engaged.

Yet this is distressingly prevalent in political culture, especially among the sort of crowd that reveres Stewart, and his schtick played right into that. In Stewart's world, anybody whose views he didn't like was a moron to be mocked or a sinister villain to be comedically reviled. "Look at how stupid these people are for thinking [thing I disagree with]!" "Look at how bad this person is for [taking position I disagree with]!" Sure, it's innate to a comedy show -- but that doesn't make it a positive contribution to the culture. In helping create a mindset in which politics is not a debate between people of differing opinions but fundamental goodwill, but a lolpwning of the stupid and wicked, Stewart's influence has been a huge negative.

It's the same prince in all the old Disney fairy tales. One player dude hopping from kingdom far away to kingdom far away, kissing girls away and taking over their songs.

I think this might be a chicken-or-the-egg scenario. I've been paying attention to politics to some extent since the 80s and it's only been in recent years that it has sometimes been literally impossible to tell the difference between a politician quote and an Onion headline. Stewart's sketches are a lot of "LOL idiots" in those scenarios, but I would find intelligent discourse impossible with someone who thinks required hand washing by restaurant employees is "government overreach," or there is such a thing as "legitimate rape", anyway.

Stewart has brought conservatives on his show and the only one I've seen him openly mock was Mike Huckabee, who was commenting about blue state citizens buying their 12-year-old daughters stripper poles for their birthdays because they listen to Beyoncé . I mean...what?

Stewart has called Obama on quite a bit of bull**** too.

Obviously I'm a fan and it is because I agree with him a lot, but is the lack of political discourse really Stewart's fault or would it exist anyway?

Have to disagree, SW prince is doll like and lack any kind of personality outside of seems nice and good singing voice. Philip on the other hand are shown to be a good friend with his horse, have a sense of humour and not caring about rank.

I read SW for "Star Wars" here, and was like "well yeah, his name is Ken, even"...

    -------------------------

I've seen a few of these posted around Lit, but I don't know if anyone's linked the whole collection (maybe I just missed it): here are the artist prints for Celebration Anaheim. All good, but some standouts for me:

I agree with a lot of those. Also http://www.starwarscelebration.com/RNA/RNA_StarWarsCelebration_V2/images/2014/art-show/Lin-Zy-Busch-Art-LowRes.jpg?v=635593667679852632]"Sabine" and http://www.starwarscelebration.com/RNA/RNA_StarWarsCelebration_V2/images/2014/art-show/Erik-Maell-Art-LowRes.jpg?v=635593667551413488]Gioconda Amidala are pretty good. This http://www.starwarscelebration.com/RNA/RNA_StarWarsCelebration_V2/images/2014/art-show/Jason-Palmer-Art-LowRes.jpg?v=635593667586049496]ROTJ poster-looking piece reminds one of Struzan, while there are some Imperial propaganda pieces that I like the concept of, but the execution doesn't have the zest that it should.

But "Burden" is definitely the best. Not sure that we can say that it's the 181st though -- we don't know if they exist in the NEU yet, but we've seen Baron Fail use the red stripes. If it is EU though, I have to say the black-haired pilot reminds me an awful lot of Kasan Moor actually...

I'm not one for posters (I like SW art a whole lot, but I prefer them digitally) but some of these are pretty neat.

Okay, the red in the latest episode of GoT (Season 4, episode 8, commentary here, etc etc) was certainly not Valentine-themed red. Certainly an episode-ending that sticks in your mind. And shoes.

So I'm not sure what's weirder, that the Atlantic has an article (not a blog) about the EU's decanonization, that it's buried in some article on encyclopedia tenses with a SW title, or that it's talking about the Wiki instead of the Wook.

But it's nice to read it taken seriously. Wonder if it'll be in the print edition.

That was really interesting. I've never really edited Wikipedia so it hadn't occurred to me that they used a different tense.
