Yes...the story of the Skywalkers. The enemy they overcome is now immaterial to the story; Palpatine was the foe who corrupted Anakin, and he's been conquered. It's perfectly fine for entirely new villains to challenge the heirs of the Skywalker line.

 

That's not episode 7. That's episode 1 chapter 2. (I thru VI being chapter 1)

Agree to the fullest. I myself would love to see Ole darth plag as the bad dude but from the clues tthat keep coming in, I just don't see it. Damn I can't wait!

 

Not Darth Plagueis

 

There is absolutely nothing in the rumor mill, assuming any of it is acurate, that discounts Plagueis.

We shall see, but I dont think Ep 7 is going to anser this.......

 

Darth Bane would be cool considering he was at the end of season 6 of the clone wars. Also, did I miss something or is Darth Maul still alive? Last thing I remember is Sidious sparing him. I don't see him as a main villain but he could be a wild card.

 

Maul is still alive. Far as we know, Sidious spared him in order to lure Mother Talzin out of her incorporeal hiding place, which he succeeded in accomplishing in the Son of Dathomir miniseries from Dark Horse (the only DH comics that are canon). Talzin became flesh again, but was almost immediately slain... Maul was dragged away from the battle by his loyal Mandalorian allies. He's free again, but his final fate is still unknown.

 

The only thing that would potentially lead me to walk out of TFA is if Uber is Maul. Please, stop suggesting it as a possibility. I have a deep superstition that if people keep saying it, it will come true!

 

EP VII will set up the Big Bad, EP VIII will reveal the Big Bad.

 

Actually, there is one other thing that would cause me to leave the cine,a. If time-travel is at the center of the TFA narrative.

He was a Jedi killer. He had a nice collection of light sabers. He was pretty scary in TCW Microseries....relentless in fact. Although that story differed from the ROTS concept art and deleted scene in ROTS of Grevious murdering Shaak Ti.

I very much doubt that any of the protagonists/antagonists (apart from the OT crew) will be anyone we know from prequels, cartoons, toys etc - they just aren't strong enough characters to sustain a new movie.

 

Who said maul was the bad guy?

 

Nobody. It's just occasionally batted around as a distant possibility, due to canon.

 

Darth Maul? He'd be pretty near 100 at that point, so I assume he would swap out his robo legs for something easier on the body. I'm thinking of Kenneth Branagh's Arliss Loveless thingamabob. Best part is it transforms into a spider, just like the sitch Savage found Maul in!

Before the Maul speculation gets out of hand, let's recall who the main suspects for Uber's identity are:

- Darth Ruin
- Darth Bane
- Darth Plagueis

 

Maybe Old Maul/ Uber is also the Night's King from Game of Thrones?

 

While I seriously doubt we'll see Maul as any sort of villain in the ST, it's not all that far-fetched given he was brought back in TCW and subjected to Mother Talzin's magic. Who knows what enhancements she wove into his physical being before he was dragged off-screen by Sidious?
