Haven't seen a thread for this, and it comes out tomorrow. Figured I'd create one since the preview is circulating.
I like that this series is so connected with the Darth Vader series. As can be seen on the preview, we see Vader arrive at Jabba's Palace in his "official capacity", after his surreptitious meeting in Darth Vader #1.
Paging AdmiralNick22, we have a shot of the Rebel fleet! Spoiler We also get a look at the Rebel High Command (Leia, Ackbar, Mon Mothma, Dodonna), and find out what the Rebels have been up to since they left Yavin IV (Ackbar says that "the Rebel Alliance has staged more than a dozen attacks on almost as many worlds. We've bombed the shipyards at Kuat and the supply base on Imdaar.") Oh, and Mon Mothma's title is apparently "Chancellor." I'm sure GrandAdmiralJello will love that!
This is kind of a set-up issue, but I dig it. It bridges the gap between this and the DV series very well! I like the way all of the characters are presented here... they're very much their movie selves, but I can already see how they're transforming into the people they'll be in ESB, Luke especially. The opening crawl page bothers me... the stars are too big and as a result it's really, really hard to read the text.
Star Wars : Skywalker Strikes Part IV Rating : 8,9/10 +I liked the dialogue all throughout the issue +I loved the interactions between Jabba and Vader +Luke's inner conflict is very interesting +Boba Fett is badass +That new character was even more of a badass +Chancellor Mothma Favorite Quote of the issue ''Kenobi's DEAD. And Boba Fett is asking the questions.'' - Boba Fett
Just picked it up on several recommendations for the great Jabba stuff and it does not disappoint. Jabba is trolling so hard it is hilarious and even reminds me somewhat of Art of the Deal. Also have to admit I like the direction the Luke story is going in this issue. PS: Nar Shaddaa gets mentioned! So hope we actually get it back.
I'm wondering how much Jabba knew about Kenobi during his exile because he refers to him as being "a constant thorn in his side" does that mean Obi Wan was something of a vigilante on tattooine?
I wonder if that'll be the subject of the Kenobi issue. It does have what looks to be a bunch of bounty hunters/Jabba's thugs on the cover.
Pretty sure Star Wars #7 will be about that. Though for my head canon Jabba is a big JJM fan and just referenced the novel Kenobi
SW #7 I imagine will be just one of many of adventures Obi Wan had on tatooine- he was there for 19 years that's a lot of opportunity for mischief
Well dang! I've been putting this on the back burner. Crafty Jabba is the best Jabba. From the earlier previews I had been worried they'd go in the direction of SOTE and have Jabba behave subserviently to the Empire. But if he's being a snarkster than that's awesome!
Jabba is great in this issue he's obviously being passive aggressive to Vader over getting force choked in Darth Vader #1
Let's start a petition for Marvel to start work on a new star wars series Star Wars: Vader and Jabba Issue #1: Partners In Slime
How many of you heard that in Temuera Morrison's voice/accent? *Raises hand* I love how this issue basically takes place directly in the middle of Vader #1. I actually also think familiarity with some of Luke's experiences in HttJ also adds to the resonance of more than one of Luke's lines in this issue. Loving this stuff.
When did Vader/Jabba learn that Luke, even though they don't know him by his name, was from Tatooine?
Probably because he was with Obi Wan and he was known to live on Tattooine Every Boba Fett line in ever star wars comic should be imagined with Morrison's voice
