Well, the tweens will finally get that answer about what the "old guy, Han Solo" was doing in those movies that was, like, made back when disco was around, or something. I kid. Actually, if done right, it could be a good lead-in to the new movies and the post-ROTJ. What could possibly go wrang?
There's also the ANH retelling YA novel that will more directly talk about those old people movies Disney posted a preview of the first bits of that novel a couple weeks ago. I was very impressed by it.
This article shows us the various images - not just of Janson but various others who look like they were based on movie characters - Bruce Willis as Kam Solusar being one of the more obvious ones - http://roqoodepot.com/articles/union-a-cast-of-its-own/
Hmmm -- just did a quick search of her. Her real name is apparently "Amy Vincent" (Claudia Gray being a pseudonym). Writes a lot of paranormal YA romance books. Scanning the plots of her novels they sound just like Twilight, but I'll reserve judgement. People do seem to like the books on the book review sites, and give some substantial literary reasons for doing so citing great hero/villain development (unlike say, Twilight...), but I keep seeing the romance parts coming up as an occasional weak point in the books. Like she can write a great plot but sometimes the romance scenes seem out of place. Wiki says she was a disc jockey. That wins points.
I'm glad to see other people excited about this. It is one of those books that is ridiculously easy to be cynical about. LFL should be commended for taking a risk and trying something new.
Its an interesting concept. As with everything, it depends on execution. With the limited information so far released, its really hard to say anything more than that.
