I think the red arm looks ok.

At least they didn't give him a certain appendage. [face_laugh]

I do agree, and at the least, I think R2 and BB-8 meet. There has been some chatter that R2 is a little annoyed by the spunky newcomer. I'm imagining R2 acting like an older cat when a spunky new kitten arrives. A bit grouchy towards the upstart, but also protective and affectionate.

How much is that selling for nowadays? That card had reached rocket firing Boba Fett status at one point.

EDIT: I just looked at completed and sold listings on Ebay. It sells for between $25 and $200 I guess.

And R2 ends up being BB-8s mentor about the subject of how he can annoy C-3PO. :p

so with the new Making article, the duo have another role in VII.
so this + the decoding of Luke's location, it seems like we only see the droids when they are doing some work and maybe the rest of the times we see them is at the base and when we see Leia.:)

What's the story behind that? What is that exactly that makes him look he has a robo-dong?

The two versions I have heard are 1.) an airbrush artist thought it would be funny, so they added it. 2.) a piece of the costume (that coincidentally looked exactly like a phallus) fell at the exact moment the photo was taken. Whatever it is, it was removed from later printings of the card. It doesn't seem to be a particularly rare collectible.

if you look at the card you can see it's part 3p0's waist plate that has come undone on one side.

This thing about C-3PO's red arm has me thinking about the silver leg, which is one of those things I've always meant to look into but I forget after a few minutes.

And Google has given me no answer.

Does Threepio ever have a silver leg in the movies or TCW? Is it just a trick of the light?

I have only ever seen it in stills and it never occurs to me to look for it in the films. :)

I think the idea is that he's always been cobbled together with junk.

My mind is definitely failing because now I don't if I just never noticed or have forgotten that I have seen the leg many times. :p

    Which option is worse? [face_worried]

To be fair, no one stares at legs all day. Your eyes gravitate towards faces.

    Depends on the legs ;)

Thanks for the moral support though. Maybe I have a few years left in the brain box yet. :)

He had the silver leg only in OT and now in Rebels, but not in the PT or TCW. In the series and ROTS, it was gold. So it was replaced with a silver leg sometime in between ROTS and Rebels.

It's a nice progression that he looks more beaten up and cobbled together as the series continues, as it is the same with the galaxy itself.

his leg was never explained and neither will the red arm be. it's a visual cue that these stories are going on without the audience. that the galaxy is real and these things happen when we don't see.

C-3PO and R2. I hope they will have more screen in TFA, even if BB is the new droid, it would be nice to have these two back in the fore for a llittle while.

That would be interesting - something we could speculate on for years until a novel or comic deals with it. :)

And it does fit in with the kind of thing that happens to poor Threepio - "just put on any old arm, it doesn't matter if it is the wrong colour". :p

EDIT: thejeditraitor - heck, he is lucky it is enough the arm of the model of droid :p

A cynical person might say the red arm means he looks different enough to give people a reason to buy a new action figure
