Since this is OT greatest hits, you can bet that we'll see the Death Star as well as Han and Luke and Obi-Wan (in the flesh). Though I must wonder how they'll do it because no-one is supposed to know about the DS.

That whole "fear, anger, hate" speech annoyed me because they kept having Kanan and Ezra keep repeating it. It was almost like the writers couldn't think of anything else for the characters to say, so what the hell that sounds cool, lets say that again

As for the OT rip-offs, that scene in the Ezra/Kanan duel with Vader, where there is this long pause/freeze frame on Kanan and Vader doing the famous Luke/Vader ESB picture/shot was again

Apart from killing a few redshirts in his TIE, Vader did not really do anything different from the Inquisitor (who did not even get that on his run) anyway.

Ah the "rip-off" whining is back. As for Vader:

-He eliminates a potential problem (Tua) while framing the Rebels/turning the public against them at the same time.
-Decimating a big chunk of the Rebel fleet single-handidly, including most of their fighter force (and forcing the rest to retreat).
-Forcing the Ghost Crew the flee Lothal, thus safe-guarding whatever it is that the Empire is really doing there.
-Demonstrating just how completely outmatched they are in the most stark way possible.
    -Learning of Ahsoka's survival.
    -Etc.

Yeah, I'd say that he did a bit more than "just kill a few redshirts."

I think fear is an integral part of all Sith, maybe not fear inside of themselves but fear they can project onto others. Vader would not be "afraid" but he would cause people to feel "fear". Or as Ezra and Luke have put it, "I feel cold."

Does anyone think we will still the Emperor stop Vader's breathing apparatus with the Force for failure or disobedience? He can easily choke Dooku to death in the same manner.

It's this fear of death that the Emperor can reach him anywhere he goes which keeps Vader loyal to Palpatine. There's an early draft of ROTJ where the Emperor does this after Vader kills Jejerrod to get into his chamber and demand to know why he is not allowed to handle his son on Endor.

Absolutely not, it was bad enough that Dooku was humiliated that way, took away the dignity from the character.

Sith are trained to be impervious to pain so punishing them with pain doesn't make much sense in the first place.

No. Dooku accidently nearly exposed the Clone Wars and the true reason for it.

It's more that they're trained to use their pain as a source of strength. Force Choke isn't just pain though - it prevents them from concentrating.

I am a little annoyed that the only reason the Ghost crew is technically a significant threat to the Empire and Darth Vader was sent to Lothal directly is because the kaiburr crystals here are being harvested to eventually power the Death Star.

This is why I am glad they are laving the planet.

Is that confirmed though? Or just a theory? All we know for sure is there is definitely something on Lothal the Emperor has taken a personal interest in and has sent his top man along to see it through. We're assuming it's the Death Star project but it could be something totally unrelated, theoretically.

If you look at the available evidence, you've really got two major choices: it's either something related to the Death Star, or it's something related to the fact that there's a hidden Jedi temple on Lothal. Those are really the only two things that could be expected, at this point in time, to be of any personal concern to Sidious that we currently know of. Perhaps it is both possibilities together in some way that only Sidious could think of. But that's about it.

One of the show's producers confirmed there are Kaiburr crystals there. Seven of them could be used to power the laser used by the Death Star.

Do we even know if Vader's going to appear again in this season?

I wonder if Vader will regret in any capacity killing his own apprentice. He might have a similar moment after losing Luke on Bespin.

Yeah, I'm still not convinced. For all we know we've seen all the important Vader scenes of the series and from now on he'll just be threatening people in holograms.

What if they make JEJ use his iconic "Vader" voice to call her "Snips"?

Will that activate everyone's cringey-groany-eyeroll device?

Think he'll be back for the finale if nothing else. Otherwise it's pretty terrible writing to have a character who is too powerful to actually use. If he does come back, and they spend the whole time running away from him, then that's kind of weak but does fit with what we've seen thus far. But if he literally turns up, crushes everyone... then promptly ***** off and never appears on screen again then that's just sloppy.

Filoni has strongly implied that they will fight.

He has mentioned that if they cross paths that Vader will want her dead, because she is a reminder of who he used to be and he wants to forget.

But elsewhere I seem to recall him saying that she won't be a pushover should they meet, since she knows how he fights.

He speaks in a lot of "if they meet" or "if this were to happen" and I've yet to see many occurrences where he says something like that and it doesn't come to pass. He has a way of giving away stuff without outright saying "yes, it's going to happen."

So it seems like he's suggested that they will fight, that she won't be a pushover, but ultimately Vader has the edge.

When he's teasing Season 2 by alluding to Ahsoka vs. Vader, I'm pretty much counting on that happening.

Doubtful, he cut down Obi-Wan without bating an eye, she'll get the same treatment.

To be fair though, they parted on significantly different terms. Ahsoka rejected the offer to return, and Kenobi cut off the rest of his natural limbs and left him to burn alive.

If Vader and Ahsoka do meet, do you think we'll see some variation on the "Join me..." speech? Or will he just try to destroy her?

He clearly doesn't ask every force user he encounters to help him overthrow Sheev. He followed his orders, and tried to kill Kanan and Ezra. Ahsoka is obviously a loose end, and he may or may not have issues with attachment with her, but he was pretty up front with Sheev about his old padawan's existence, while we know he was not so up front about his long lost son.

I doubt Vader would go straight for the kill. Sheev thinks Ahsoka could be useful in finding other Jedi. Vader even mentions Kenobi. So mostly likely scenario is Vader going for capturing and/or turning Ahsoka.

I’d be surprised if Vader didn’t give Ahsoka the ‘join me’ speech (after she is captured?). An Ahsoka/Vader team up would be a force to be reckoned with. And Sheev knows it. IMO that’s why he had Vader send an inquisitor after her, instead of telling Vader to go find her himself. Of course I find it highly unlikely Ahsoka would seriously consider joining Vader.
