Hi there! The most important to start with: I am from Germany and use my best school English Would be pleased if you'd tell me when I make mistakes. So, how did I got stranded here? Well, actually I'm a huge Star Wars fan and the English fandome seems simply more active than the German, especially this board towards a German board where I am registered. For some time past I read the newest novels also in their original language, so it seemed more and more natural to me to move in an English community. And now I am here Hope to have a good change of views although my language skills are limited... By the way it's interesting what names some SW characters have. For example Fett means in German language fat (Mr. Obvious^^) and Maul means yap.
Welcome German fellow! You're up early or late... Which one is the case? As you might have figured out already, I'm from Germany as well. This forum helps a lot to improve ones English. From where are you more exactly? Have you been at SW identities in Cologne already? Worth a visit! There's even a German FanForce board here. Although it's not really active, it's worth a visit every now and then. Enjoy your stay and ask, if you have questions.
Welcome to the boards Cacau. I'm also from Germany. I also registered here to improve my English. I start to collect the new canon material which I prefer to read in German, but it's the "daily conversation" that I want to improve. Also, I agree with you that this is a much more active place like german forums, mainly because a german forum is for german-speaking fans, but here you can speak with fans from all over the world. And it's a much more civilized place than Facebook.
Welcome, Cacau! I'm an American trying to learn German. Perhaps I should go to the German fan sites, lol. Unfortunately, I'm really just a beginner so I can't write (say) much in German...yet! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the boards! There are a lot of friendly people here and tons of different types of discussions to participate in, depending on your SW interests. If you'd like to step away from just SW-oriented conversation at times and meet some people, I recommend some of the various social threads. The "Cloud City Cantina" in the "Star Wars Community" is the one I know the best and is very newb-friendly: http://boards.theforce.net/threads/...ocial-thread-eat-drink-and-be-merry.50028269/ but there are other good ones as well...the "Blue Moon Cantina" in the Expanded Universe area ("EU Community" within the "Star Wars Books, Comics, and Expanded Universe" sub-forum)is very active as well and has a lot of friendly people too: http://boards.theforce.net/threads/the-blue-moon-cantina-xviii-off-to-never-never-land.50023036/ oh, "Boba 'Fat'"...I love it! I heard this as an altered Obi-Wan line..."Facebook...so uncivilized..." (Sometimes the JCF) gives me way too much "SW on the brain")
welcome to the boards if you have any questions please feel free to ask. This is a good way to learn English here. So, how did I got stranded here? The word got makes this sentence sound awkward and it's not the proper tense to use. So how did I get stranded here? see the difference?
Thanks for all the welcomes. Somehow weird to write with Germans in English Pensivia: Yes Boba Fat is nice, indeed Also funny that Mof(f) is short for Mensch ohne Freunde / human without friends but only youngsters use this^^ And the hero of the Saga, Luke, actually is a hatchway in German. Falcon: Thank you very much for the correction! Unfortunately I can't edit anymore but this was an easy mistake of course... @all: Where's the Quote - Button or do I have to do it manual always?
Hi and welcome (I speak German as well, though not perfectly ) The reply button is below a post, near the right bottom corner. There should be a #, "Like", then "Reply".
Welcome! Your English will probably improve the more time you spend on here (or reading/writing English in general) Germany is one of the places I've always wanted to visit, I'm from Scotland. Hope to see you again around the boards! Happy posting!
Guten Tag, Hallo. Wie geht's? Anyway, my german stops there. I'm a norwegian that is curretly learning german at school, my final year with that...hopefully. Have been learning that language for almost five years now...and...it is not going well....you guys' grammar is as crazy as the english grammar...even more crazy. This indeed a nice place to learn English, it was why I registered at the first place. Hope to see you around the forum, aufwiedersehen!
Strilo, Timo! Nice to see you here!! Great to know that you lurk here every now and then. Sorry for the "interuption", Cacau, but that happens when old FanForcer meet each other again.
