It sounded like most of his stuff came from pre-production and shooting, not post-production so that makes sense.

Hopefully there will be some revealing reports regarding the Skellig shoot that starts tomorrow. I'm thinking John Boyega with a cyborg arm, or Mark Hamill in a full-body exo-suit.

Hey. So, uh, I don't know if this has been posted here, but film composer Mike Verta (who has spent 15 years or so doing a phenomenal looking restoration of the original film called the Star Wars Legacy Edition) recently appeared on a podcast called Undressing Underground. It's pretty lengthy, but for a couple of minutes The Force Awakens is briefly discussed. In those brief minutes, Verta mentions that he has friends in the VFX department that are working on the film, who... didn't sound all that positive about the movie. The words "It's not Star Wars" were used. Here's the link to the episode, if anyone wants to give it a listen. But yeah, not gonna lie, this has put a bit of a damper on my mood this otherwise fine evening.

 

Nothing other than the OT will ever be Star Wars for a lot of people. I'll personally wait until I see the film before making any kind of judgement. The opinions of others don't sway me.

 

I wouldn't put too much stock in a comment such as "it's not Star Wars" or "doesnt feel like Star Wars". Of course brand new footage you're seeing for the first time isn't gonna "feel" like footage you've seen over and over again for 15 to 30 years. These things take time to absorb into the culture.

 

Everything so far looks and sounds like Star Wars to me. Well, except for Snoke. That still hasn't grown on me and I really doubt it ever will. Small gripe, though. Let's just hope the film nails the feel as well as it has the look.

I'm surprised more than anything about how these spoiler sites got word of trailers coming yet have nothing on the newest one that 'SHOULD' be approaching. I mean they said fall...it can't be far off, especially since Abrams himself said it would be coming in fall a while back. If there's been a plan for it how do none of these sources have any info this time?

 

I'm not sure about a comment like "It's not Star Wars" without any further explanation/supporting details (which, of course, they couldn't reveal)--it's hard to take something like that too seriously without anything additional. I'll wait until I at least see footage to develop any opinions and even then I'll wait for the whole movie. As is often the case, it will be within the eye of the beholder.

Hopefully we get some interesting details about the Skellig shoots. Beautifully dangerous place--hoping for no accidents!

 

My initial viewing of the first teaser didn't feel like Star Wars to me, but that was mainly because I was finally seeing a glimpse of the RotJ sequel. It didn't match up perfectly with what I had in my head so I got a little nervous. Thing is, it's not going to match up perfectly with how anyone envisions it so let's just go along for the ride and enjoy it for what it is. And hopefully what it is is a good movie.

 

In fairness to the "It's not Star Wars" comment, he qualifies the statement by saying that they don't just care about whether or not it looks or feels like Star Wars. They also seemed to be unimpressed with the movie as a film, as well.

Only thing really left to reveal is parentage and who survives (villain-wise. I'm team "Let Kylo and Phasma live. **** everyone else")
